Alamo Lake

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about camping at Alamo, but I've never been there without a boat. Is it worth going and bank fishing?

Alamo is good from the shore or boat, especially during the spawn.  We will be out there in a few weeks for five days.  Best trip of the year.

My wife and I have been there around the end of March a couple of times and had a blast. I have never fished Alamo from a boat so I can't compare it to that.

You get many crappie off the shore?

Sancarlos was the bomb for bank trashing it back in the day. Minnow and a bobber, a little walking, = awesome.  Nice crappie.

Yeah I caught hundred off the shore a couple years ago. Glorious. Maybe this year. Last time it went dry, 2 years later was on fire. It went dry 2 years ago, so I’m cautiously optimistic. They vote this week I think about letting non members on

I honestly don't remember how many, but it was enough to make us happy. Probably 10 keepers a day along with lots of other fish mixed in.

Best place to fish crappie from the shore of alamo, is the three points on the left hand side(as your looking out to the water) from the 2nd boat ramp  I believe its cholla .

bobbers and minnows or jigs with a 4-5 foot leader
