bonecollector Report post Posted July 9 I keep going back and forth on which ones to get. I would like to just have one bino for everything from hunting coues to spot and stalk archery hunting. The 12's I worry about not having enough power for glassing coues deer. 14's I worry about trying to handhold while archery hunting. What are your thoughts for people that have a set of these?

I went with the Gen 2, 12’s for the same reason of having 1 set to carry. They are great free hand or on the tripod. The only obvious difference of course with the magnification is that at the farther distance, you might not see the cheater on a good buck. Otherwise it’s a win/win against the 14’s for me. You’ll know if it’s a good buck or an average buck very quickly. They will absolutely turn up deer in most conditions that the 14’s will. These things aren’t the 12’s your Dad had 😄
WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted July 9 12s are clear enough to see pretty much everything you need. If you are really trying to judge a buck at 700+ yards I think you should use a spotter, even the 14s won't catch everything. I think 12s are the best all around. I don't own 14s but my friends do and I can glass everything they can or more. lol

twigsnapper Report post Posted July 9 I like my NL 12’s better than my 14’s. If I had to choose one it would be the 12’s without question. The field of view and compact size of the 12’s outweigh the extra magnification of the 14’s.
Flatlander Report post Posted July 9 Is it a coincidence that the NL 12’s two threads down sold 52 min ago?

Shawn Report post Posted Thursday at 03:53 PM For archery I use conquest 8x42 on chest. I have used 8s or 9s for archery for years and will not go without 8 or 9s with a bow in my hands. You could get used good 8s to use during archery.

By far the easiest to keep steady when hand holding. When I went from 8.5's to 10's I could notice a difference. Bigger difference with 12's. I have had them all setup for tripod though. With the 12's there were times when I would have liked to have had my 15's.
MMACFIVE Report post Posted Saturday at 07:01 PM I run my 12's on a dual system along with my spotter for Coues. I have no complaints about finding Coues with 12's. My son use to run 10 ELs and 15 SLCs. I made him use my 12 NL's for one day in Mexico. He gave them back 4 days later and sold his 10's and 15's and bought 12. The 14's (14.7's) are fantastic. they are too much for me to hand hold and their FOV is noticeably smaller. If you can only have one I'd recommend the 12's Good Luck, PS you can not beat my Swarovski Reps price....IM me for prices if you'd like
