Interesting snake

Recommended Posts

We have a really big  gopher snake at our place. My daughter saw it today at about 630 pm and scared her at first until she realized what snake it was.

Here's a mostly black phase (some red speckling visible) Masticophis flagellum (coachwhip) from outside Tucson years ago.

Are you fuckin telling me I have to look up and on the ground now

In 2017 I was working on Chandler Blvd by the South Mtn Trailhead, and found several grey/white rattlesnakes.   Saw some G&F WMs there and they told me they were Southwest Speckled Rattlesnakes, and they were known to be tree dwellers, feeding off of bird eggs.  Here I was, looking under the trees for them the whole time.   This one missing his head had been ran over by a water truck.

Went scouting last weekend and this guy made my heart skip a beat or two.

Fortunately he gave me a heads up before I was too close. Very colorful yellow, I wish the

pictures were better.  I believe it was a blacktail rattler.
