couesdeerhntr Report post Posted September 29 My great uncle passed away and family wants to donate a tag to my daughter. Is this possible. When i look it up on azgfd it says parent, grandparent or legal guardian can transfer tag to minor child. It is her great uncle? Will that still work? I am calling tomorrow just working now and cant step out to make call
couesdeerhntr Report post Posted September 30 Bummer wish that was different. He loved hunting and wanted it to go to family but no others of age can take it
couesdeerhntr Report post Posted September 30 I am sure it will be transferred to a organization
CouesFanatic Report post Posted September 30 It has to go to a child or grandchild of the tag holder . Has to be a minor at the time of transfer.
yotebuster Report post Posted September 30 Sorry to hear about your great uncle. I would call them and ask. NM has no exchange policy to speak of and they let us transfer my late step father’s tag to my brother after he was killed in a car wreck. They may handle death differently than a normal transfer.
wildwoody Report post Posted September 30 I think original tag holder has to be present. Sorry for the lose.

And as long as a legal guardian is present during the hunt, that meets the criteria. We transferred a Unit 1 early rifle bull tag from my wife to my daughter in 2017 and I was able to go on the hunt instead of my wife.

Flatlander Report post Posted September 30 If your daughter has a qualifying illness or condition or if she lost a parent who was a first responder you could transfer it to her through the charity.
Flatlander Report post Posted September 30 But what tag is it? That might influence how much risk I would be willing to take.

Big Tub Report post Posted September 30 I tried to turn in a HAM Jeavelina tag last year and their attitude was "Why bother?" I guess that is a rather practical response. May be the same with cow elk; although, I know a "wounded warrior" that would love another elk tag. He has done quite well with donated tags.
