State trust land bordering it as well I was informed just very recently that state trust land leased for cattle or planted/seeded may be off-limits if having hunters in the field will have a detrimental effect. Never have heard that before. Specifically, those farmers developing the round fields down by where the cranes hang out can kick you off their leased fields. Anyone ready to confirm this or had discussions with the State Land Department?

Anyone ready to confirm this or had discussions with the State Land Department? Almost all areas where the cranes feed, and spend their time in southeastern Arizona are private lands or state trust lands farmed and cultivated by private ranches or landowners. As such, hunters MUST plan to coordinate access with private farms and individuals. If you are unwilling to talk to landowners ahead of the hunts, you should not apply for these hunts. Sounds like it's landowners not land leasers. State law is any land must be posted no trespassing correctly. Kent

Short of juvenile birds, or an occasional day where the sun is just right, they’re smart enough where they don’t usually land in the decoys too often. It’s insane how good they can see. Even up here in ND they are so smart and wary. I guess that’s why I love hunting them so much. Deception?

krp Report post Posted 15 hours ago Yep it's more efficient in the actual killing, which is the intent. I'm not kicking a bird into the air if I can kill it more efficiently on the ground. Less chance of a cripple and if crippled less chance of getting away. Kent
