idgaf Report post Posted Saturday at 12:54 AM I would say cut the tags and add a point restriction. That way the yearlings have a chance to live to their second birthday.
Chef Report post Posted Saturday at 01:36 AM 10 hours ago, knothead said: G&F figured out years ago their main source of income is not from the selling of tags but from the application fees, selling points and the selling of "opportunities". AZ just doesn't have the numbers of animals and habitat to support the dept and all their employees off tag and license sales alone. Hunters are still the milk cow for all big game and non-game species. I wish they could figure out a way for all the wolf, feral horse and feral burro lovers to buy a license every year along with some sort of application fees. They can still get creative and get more... Utah Law Makes People Buy Hunting/Fishing Licenses To Use State Lands | Cowboy State Daily

The question is when and why 34a hasn't had a mule deer hunt in a few years, anyone or any weapon. Same conditions as the rest of southern AZ. Why this unit and nothing else? creed Report post Posted Saturday at 06:39 PM I'm curious as to why the big increase in some of the otc desert archery hunts. From what I saw they should be cutting permits instead of increasing them.

My normal spots had similar #'s, but they weren't as concentrated as they usually are. This was central Az.

But while we’re talking about things that’ll never happen, how about a bonus point for every 20 coyotes a hunter dumps at the doorstep of a g and f regional office and one bonus point for every lion. I helped a guy on a whitetail hunt this last year who said he wasn’t going to buy a lion tag! His explanation was they are so rare he didn’t think he could kill one. He never even saw a buck because the lions have taken out a lot of the deer! Meanwhile G and F is proud of their lion conservation efforts in our state
Sky Island junkie Report post Posted Saturday at 07:23 PM This was a couple days worth within a mile of our house and didn’t make a dent. We very rarely see javelina anymore and Muley numbers are down.

These recommendations cut tags in a handful of units where the quota is already filled.

It's sad when game and fish cares more about non-hunters feelings then the actual wildlife they represent.

I live in the unit I’ve hunted whitetail my whole life and just get to see first hand how many cats are in an area and nobody’s hunting them. Even the houndsmen I know will catch a cat and pull the dogs off if it’s just a little 70lb female. They want the big toms. I get that too
