Be careful what you say to "Sir Royal" he was knighted by the queen.  If you dont think that he knows all then just ask him.  Blow hard Sir Royal.  🤣 😷

I really don’t like posting in these garbage go-nowhere threads. I hate responding to anything ThomC word vomits even more.

But dude grow up. Find something to contribute to the conversation or just go away already. Didn’t your mom tell you it was rude to interrupt while the adults were talking?

Nothing on this thread is going to have any impact on the rule-making decision. I proposed that the commission require the Dept to form a committee of stakeholders (hunters, Dept, whoever is complaining about cameras, wildlife organizations etc) to study what the problem is. I still don’t know why this rule making recommendation is even being proposed. And then that group should provide recommendations of both rule-making and non-rule making solutions.

The Camera issue was before the Commission in 2018. Any Regulation on Cameras was soundly voted down by the Commission .

This time there will be some type of parameters put on them. Anti - Hunting organizations are already targeting them here in Arizona.

As I was one of maybe 5 guys that was at the very 1st meeting at AZGFD headquarters over Trail cams. I know that Jay Cook of AZGFD had already decided a ban was gonna happen on his watch and he was all for it. But the Commission shut it down. One commissioner said he was afraid it would make criminals out of law abiding citizens.

I love using Trail Cams. Its fun , its exciting, its fun to share, its hard work,  do I think it effects wildlife?  NO ( they adapt very quickly) . But there will be more guys in the woods at prime time if a ban is put into effect and it will definitely affect the animals more than Trail cams.

Do specific animals get targeted because of Trail Cameras ? YES

Do more mature animals get harvested because of Trail Cams? YES

So if we  are going to have regulations put on them then just have them pulled down before the 1st big game hunt in August till the end of the year each year.  Then everybody is on a level playing field coming opening morning. Kind a like when it rains 1 day before opening day. 😁

Bottom line is AZGFD has already made up its mind on what and how  they are going to regulate Trail cams.   The Commissioners are the only hope left for some type of a reasonable solution!

Well put. Agreed.

Do you run cameras @SirRoyal

I started in 2014 . Its alot of fun !  Its a treasure hunt! Im fine if they put a season on say shutting it down before Archery deer or similar.

I spend alot of my summers running cams probably average 15 to 20 cams a year.  I love seeing the growth each year  of the antlers and the lions and bears and deer and elk and people on them. 😁

Thank you!

I believe the commission is often the driving force of the policies being put forth by the department.  Don't for one second believe that the idea was solely the departments idea.

So from Jan. 1st through mid Aug. there is no big game hunts? Archery deer, Javelina, spring turkey, spring bear, oh and there is Mt. Lion...... There is not a defined timeline that would work.

Good point. A fee program might work. The $40-50 per camera suggestion seems a bit excessive to me.

What i can't wrap my head around, is why sportsmen would support taking away something from other sportsmen, just because they "don't like it".

Level the playing field? Get out of here.

Whats next, being upset because someone has 3 friends hunting with them when you have only 1 or 2?

It being "unfair" because some one has swarovskis and you have Vortex? (That warranty though).

Life isn't fair.

Life isn't equal.

Deal with it.

But to go after a tool someone utilizes, but you don't.... Sounds a lot like socialism in the hunting community to me.

I support all legal methods of hunting, even if I don't participate.

I dont hunt with a muzzeloader, but im not trying to get the 500+ yard muzzeloaders banned.

Very childish and immature behavior.

Kurt Davis  the chairman of the commissioners is very staunch anti trail cam fan .

I admire him tho because he voted with the rest of the Commissioners in 2018 realizing there wasnt enough support for it at that time and tabled it in spite of his objections.

Maybe now he thinks he has enough support at this time to pull off a trailcam ban. I just hope Todd Geiler and the other commissioners aren't swayed by his thinking.

One of the commissioners called all the Record books such as B&C and Pope &Young and Safari Club and Longhunter Society. Everyone of them said Trail Cameras are not a Fair Chair issue.

Game and Fish is using that very issue (Fair Chase) to back their claims. Also Someone may have got smart and threw in the Anti Hunting organizations are coming after us on it so we might as well get proactive on it.  I believe this came  came from State Legislators that have powerful Ranching lobbyists  and other Lobbyist putting pressure on them!
