A10 Thunderbolt

Recommended Posts

I was out hunting unit 21. I've been seeing multiple bucks on a daily basis since Saturday. Today I sitting mid level on a hill glassing. All of a sudden two A10 Thubderbolts go flying by NAP of the Earth style, I'd say about 300 to 500 ft AGL. Was a sight to see. By the time I got my camera out they were gone along with the roar of freedom!

I love seeing them! They’ve been my favorite plane since I was a kid!

I won’t lie I saw the title and thought maybe you were selling one!

Seems that we get buzzed by them off Date Creek road on the train quite a bit. Been seeing a 155”-160” buck pushing does pretty good almost in the same spot every day for the last week.

When I was in the Gulf stationed at King Faud International airport they would go out at first light, loaded with bombs so heavy the wings would bounce as they were going down the runway.

Then they would return a few hours later totally empty and do it again. 24-7

Got to watch them shoot targets down on the Barry Goldwater range. Very cool

Imagine calling in air support and they show up!

I've seen them provide air support many times as well as the specter gunships. It's a sight to see. Especially when that main gun is firing. That brrrrrp sound! Seen them in action during my combat tours.

A friend had a place off the Table Mesa road near the Agua Fria many years ago.  Spent a lot of time at his place.  A-10's flew through regularly very close to the ground.  If we were lucky enough to spy a "hog" approaching we would perform a vigorous fist pump, in return, they ALWAYS gave us a wing waggle.  Great memory and an outstanding aircraft.

Love to watch the A10’s and F16’s scream through the canyons down south!

Driving in NM one time had an F111 come up behind me for a practice run. Nearly sh!t myself when I saw it in the rear view! That pilot probably still laughs when he thinks about it!
