firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted Sunday at 06:59 PM Other than haters, most of us agree that side by sides are extremely useful for hunting, offroading etc. However, in my opinion, the biggest draw back is the dust. Not necessarily for myself or passengers, as we can layer up, use goggles and shower. But, the gear in the bed gets absolutely covered in dust. Has anyone used anything that actually works for dust protection? I've heard of guys using duffle bags, but those things would have to be massive to hold the average hunting pack filled with day supplies, spotting scope, tripod, let alone multiple bags.

ctafoya Report post Posted Sunday at 07:53 PM I have Polaris boxes that take the place of one of the seats. They are not 100%, but they are pretty good. For smaller stuff top brand door bags work good as well.
jdown Report post Posted Sunday at 07:58 PM We build and use platforms for most everything except elk hunts. Kind of customize to meet our needs but keeps gear underneath clean and dry and provides storage, water, tie downs etc

HyNoon Report post Posted Sunday at 08:38 PM I've seen the big black trash bags. The polaris lock boxes are pretty good but depending on size alot of things don't fit. I saw a guy on a hunt that built an air tight wooden box in the back that he stored is bows and cameras in as well as all his glass. Good idea but takes some work. Maybe those mtn project lock boxes might work well too depending on what fits in them or where you can fit them in your SxS.

I've got one of those exact boxes (smaller size though, I think...). I added some weather stripping to the top of the box, which additionally helped seal the dust out. I don't have a SxS, but helps greatly in the back of a pickup.

That's what I was thinking too.. about trying some type of weather stripping on the lid.
Crazymonkey Report post Posted Sunday at 09:29 PM My buddy bought one of these from kemi moto for his polaris. Not sure how good it works yet but found they have them for my can am . Would have to pull off to load a elk like we usually do but it's a quick process
Sky Island junkie Report post Posted Sunday at 09:41 PM I’d have that thing ripped to shreds the first day of its first hunt
ctafoya Report post Posted Sunday at 10:06 PM Might be small for some of the bigger packs if they are full. I think the box in my XP is bigger than my Pro R. I use the duffles when tent camping for sleeping bags and cot pads. They work great for dust and even minor wet weather.
