Elk Rut Update

Wishing all the archery guys good luck! Hope you guys are whacking some good ones! Just wondering if anyone has had any recent updates on the rut activity around the state since the front blew through last night. My early rifle tag starts next Friday and work is becoming more and more painful while I wait. Would love to see some of the bulls the archery guys got too if you’re willing to share!

At first I was pissed that I didn't draw a tag but from what im hearing im glad I got another point lol but I guess you never know

It will go down in history that the rut of 2025 was the worst many have ever seen. Hopefully not a trend.

Im sure cows will be bred.   Bow hunters get to deal with the conditions  all other elk hunters get to deal  on other seasons with this year, apparently.  No stupid horny bulls on suicide missions ….. good hunters will adapt. Lazy hunters  will have tag soup.

I am in the elk woods every year and have been successful either hunting or helping in 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, and 23.  This is the slowest rut O have ever hunted.  Over half the days no bugles and others very limited and far.  Had one close encounter with some back and forth.  Areas that are historically very active are near silent.  
 

your days left for my son, hopefully he gets a shot.

I agree, my sis-inlaw drew a early rifle tag, rifle guys and gals are gonna tear it up!!!!

? Lol Noone said all the elk hunters just packed up and went home. There are still bulls being killed, but the fact remains this rut is the worst in many years, if not ever.

I don’t know if it is a terrible rut or if it is just a late rut. Time will tell. It could still get really good for the rifle / muzzy / youth hunts.

I am hoping my daughters cow hunt is epic!

Its horse shoot. But oh well. I waited too many years for this hunt to give up. This will probably be my first and last archery hunt though. Back to putting in for rifle with the family. Came out a week early. Learned a lot. Just got back to Ft. Tuthill to find someone helped themselves to my chairs, tables, and water equipment. Oh well. Still have some time so hopefully the rut will pick up. And yes it is hot. Crazy.

Not much worse than a thief!!!!
