Lightweight Build

Recommended Posts

The rifle is in my possession and I just received the HS Precision Stock. The stock needs to be opened up a little for the recoil lug and barrel channel and I would like to have the action bedded. Does anyone know where I can have this work done where it won't take months to get the rifle back?

Talked to Keith at PCR. Gonna drop off the barreled action and stock tomorrow. He said it shouldn't take more than a week or so to complete. I really appreciate the advice.

Rifle is at PCR. I should have it back and ready to do load development in about 2 weeks.

You will not be disappointed I can't wait to drop off all my parts to them to build my 7RM

Rifle is done. A photo of the completed rifle is below. Build specs as follows:

- Trued Remington Model 7 action

- heavy recoil lug

- Timney Calvin Elite trigger set at 2.5 lbs

- Proof Research barrel chambered in 7 mm Remington Short Action Ultra Magnum

- APA muzzle brake

- HS Precision Stock

-Talley light weight rings

- Leupold VX-6

Rifle is at right at 8 lbs all up with scope and rings. I will start load development next weekend using Norma brass, H4831SC powder and Hornady 162 ELD X bullets.

I want to give a shout out to Brad at Phoenix Custom Rifles. He worked through some issues with the HS Precision Stock and this build being on a Model 7 action using short mags. Short mags are known for feeding issues and it doesn't help this was on a Model 7 action. He was extremely informative during the bedding process. It shows that he truly cares about the end result of the rifles he works on. PCR will definitely be getting my business on a future build.
