Youth tags 33

Daughter drew her first tag along with brother. They both want mule deer. Any suggestions.

Much more of a whitetail unit. I don't see a lot of mule deer in there, but I also usually hunt a little higher. So hunt low.

I've only ever hunted Coues in 33 but I can check with a buddy who grew up there and see if he has any suggestions.

It’s different now. Saddle brook has taken over the area.

The east side north and south has better opportunities .

Down in the southern part of the unit you can access foothills of the rincons off of the j6 ranch Rd.....just before the railroad tracks. Open country....very glassable

Saw a pretty good mule deer get hit by a car right by biosphere.   I would hunt the lower country around there.

It’s good country, it’s just a pretty small area now

Yes a lot of residential there now. But the deer are still there.

I agree but with a child on their first hunt you could be on the other side of the unit, not see another hunter and hunt in any directions with out worry about land issues.

I would agree if it was my kids tag its most likely not the place I would hunt either. When I was bow hunting there a few years ago there was people everywhere it was insane. We had 2 guys in a truck follow us around until we found a decent buck to put a stalk on. They than hauled butt to get down the road to the bottom and tried to go after the same buck from the bottom with the wind blowing up the hill. Than when they busted the deer we went to another hill to glass and 20 minutes later here comes the same truck parked just down the road from us sitting there waiting for us to make a move on something.
