Wild heritage taxidermy

Recommended Posts

Had a nice coues at R&R taxidermy for two years and never mounted. Finally went and picked it up and a mouse had chewed some of the velvet. They said they would fix and i just took my money and went to wild heritage taxidermy. He fixed it real nice and did a beautiful mount but it took another 2 years before i got it back. Sucks to hear all this cuz it was good work. Lately i have had Millers Southwest Taxidermy do my kaibab mule deer and my bison and a euro elk. all very fast turn around times. Even cleaned my bison skull to keep before he mounted it and cape was done.

I’ve never understood why 95% of taxidermists turn into scumbags. Honest question, are there any good, reputable taxidermists left in AZ? I’ve heard Weller’s is. I always thought Mogollon was the best of the best but i’ve heard their turnaround has about tripled. I had to rescue my best coues from a taxidermist that had them for 3 years and never mounted. I’d like to take it to someone who can be trusted

I would put Weller’s at the top of the most honest and good turn around. Their quality is top notch also

I currently have a couple animals with one of them mentioned above. I felt like I was an inconvenience giving them the business and at a premium price. Customer service was less than desirable from several in the shop. I didn't even get a response when I texted additional confirmation info about how I wanted my mounts done.

I'm hopeful and mostly confident that poor CS is the worst of it and I'm not expecting the mounts back any time soon. As a 3rd time customer, the jury is out whether I'd use them again and I've forwarded them a lot of business. We'll see, it's only been 6 months.

Why do I know exactly which one you are talking about....  hhhhmmm same experience but the work was good. I would use them again. I would love to brag about my usually taxi ... but he does not take on new customers. He is too busy with his customers now and wants to keep his turn around time at what it is now.

Why are there never legal ramifications brought against these thieves?

Would have to go to civil court for it, would be your only recourse to recoup anything.

There’s still good ones. I’ve been using the same guy for 25 plus years and there’s no BS , no excuses. I can drop in anytime and he’s working on stuff , and I’ve never had anything in for over a year. He’s mounted darn near everything I’ve killed in my Az big 10, plus some stuff from out of state and country. Taken friends there and they get the same results. I’m not gonna post name as he’s winding down,  and not necessarily taking new clients.

Point is.. not all are flakes and crooks, just have to fine out who isn’t . You can’t label all taxi’s as bad . Most get into it cause they love hunting  as much as we all do

Not any of the taxidermist listed, but I had a mule deer buck of a lifetime with a local taxidermist for three years eventually, he mounted it.

fast-forward three years my daughter killed a giant Coues deer with no deposit. He mounted it in 48 hours from Skull cap drop off to pick up complete mounted

In early October last year we took my son’s youth hunt coues to Mogollon Taxidermy and he said turnaround was right around 12 months. In March he posted on his Instagram that in order to keep the turnaround at about 12 months he is not taking any new customers. He said will take on new work from existing customers already in the system. He’s definitely one of the best there is, so he’s swamped with work.

In October 2010 I shot a nice coues and had Wellers do the shoulder mount. Everything in their shop looked PERFECT! They told me nine months turnaround on my shoulder mount and that’s exactly what it was. They did a fantastic job on that mount and still looks as good as the day I brought home 14 years ago.

A tripled turn around time at Mogollon is quite an exaggeration. Last buck of mine they did was done in under 14 months- only slightly longer than the usual year turn around. In April they asked for my elk antlers for a bull I killed in September so that mount is on track to be done well under a year

Yup. I haven't had any issues with Mogollon. Turn around has been around a year for coues mounts. Clay has always been professional and easy to contact. He does awesome work.
