Monkey Wrenching near HappyJack

Sad thing is that there is a high possibility of this idiot being a fellow "hunter" trying to elude people from coming into "his spots", you never know, people do some stupid sh$t sometimes and a lot of the times its not even the kind of people you would expect to do it. Who ever it is must do it at night cause with the way that rebar is shaped it looks like it has to be dug in somewhat so to do that I'm sure he/she/it wouldn't be out in the middle of the day digging up roads where anyone could come along and see them.

If they just cut them to about 8" they could be pounded in with a small sledge hammer. No reason to dig them in the loose soil would just make em weaker and more prone to getting pulled out when you drive over them.

Lotta wack jobs out there.

Very true but from the pictures it shows that the rebar has two 90 degree bends in them which would make them harder to pound in cleanly. That is why I say they are partially digging them in.

Luckily I carry two spares now! Whoever or what ever group is doing this should be brought up on attempted murder charges, animal cruelty, trespassing, and wrecklesness charges. I've had anti hunters up all night shooting in certain units, trying to block roads, and drive around with bullhorns blaring hatred during the day. This here takes the cake for ignorance, stupidity, aragonance, and just a good reason to be shot!! Don't matter if its an anti, another hunter, or just stupid kids. Someone might get hurt and it just might be them!!

word is getting out- saw pics of spikes on local news station this morning here in the valley. Hopefully no individuals get hurt from these spikes being put out that way. Nothing but harm intended when these type of things are done out in public land.

Looks like some effort and care was taken in their manufacturing. The psycho(s) probably fancies themself some eco-terrorist, artisan. Maybe karma will find him impaled on one.

The folks doing this need to be caught and I would hope law enforcement is working the issue. As one of the comments above stated, where else is this occurring. This could injure anyone including kids, animals, etc. Would love to catch the SOB and put a few of their implements of stupidly through their vehicle and or body.

Yup. Scroll down to chapter 4. Step by step instructions.

Excerpts:

With the simple tools and techniques discussed in this chapter, an Earth defender can essentially declare her own wilderness boundary and safeguard an area from vehicle-borne destruction. Are two roadless areas separated by a dirt road? Close it. Are cherry-stem roads invading a block of wild country from all sides? Shut them off at the periphery. Is the Forest Service building a logging road into prime wildlife habitat? Wreck it. Are miners, seismographers, surveyors, trappers, or poachers threatening your area? Take their transportation away. Are bozos on their tricycles or dune buggies trashing a wild canyon, roadless beach, or desert valley? Flatten their tires and make em walk out.

Any piece of hard metal that can be sharpened and driven into the ground will work. For convenience and economy, we recommend 1/2 inch diameter steel rod used for concrete reinforcement, usually called number four rebar in the construction trades.

Although road spikes are difficult to see from a vehicle (particularly a charging muscle wagon), picking a spot where they will be extra difficult to see will increase their effectiveness. Choose a spot where vegetation to the side, shadows, a dip in the route, a curve, or other natural camouflaging will obscure the three inches of dark rod protruding from the ground. Also, pick a site where there is an excellent chance of the road spike making contact with a tire.

This isn't a disgruntled hunter or landowner. This is an organized effort by Earth First and all the rest.

If you join the G&F hunt club you will receive maps of the locations of these tire spikes before anyone else, only 19.99 for the first 30 callers.
