I just had this discussion with someone, "Just the presence of a firearm in the house guarantees an accident" I grew up in a house full of guns, I could get my hands on any of them most any time of the day and can you believe it not a single accident. I was allowed to take my 22 or my 20 ga. out to hunt even if no one was home as long as my chores were done.

I attended Peoria High and we used to take our shotguns to school and go dove hunting with our baseball coach who also taught government.  Normal stuff back then and nobody thought twice about it.

I wish Trump stood up for the 2A more and didn't get bullied into the bump stock deal.  Need the removal of the NFA.  The defense is above, its for the 50 million children

Same here, was able to jump on my dirt bike and go hunt or shoot almost whenever I wanted. I was called to the principals office once and he walked me out to the parking lot. I had my shotgun in the gun rack on my back window of my truck. He told me I better move it behind the seat because it might be stolen being out in the open.

Dove season was like a national holiday when I was in school.  Lots of guys came in late and or brought shotguns to school. No big deal. Starts in the home!

When I was growing up we used to go hit the dairy farms for practice on pigeons before dove season, the farmer liked us for smashin lots of pigeons. When I had kids of my own they were taught early on never to touch dads pistol on the counter, but if they wanted to all they had to do was ask and I would clear the gun and they could hold it and look it over and that went for all of my guns. We would go over safety stuff, proper handling and most of all, I took the curiosity factor out of them. My kids respect firearms and love them that much more.

I remember more than once one of the asst principals going out to the parking lot after school to check out a student’s new rifle or shotgun...I think trucks without guns in the rack were the minority at my high school.

we did the same thing in high school in washington state. in the late 70's.

opening day of deer season was a known ditch day only some of them female teachers showed up hardly any kids.  ducks and geese were shot on school grounds after school, however if there was a pheasant on the football feild we had 3 teachers that would hunt them we used to watch out the window while we were still in his class. kept his O/U right behind his desk. civics teacher was an awsum shot and usually the quickest
