That was my thinking. I have no problem hand holding 12's if needed. I do a lot of spotting for friends and family so watching hits or misses with the higher power would be beneficial. Also i plan on getting twins spotters soon so I dont have to carry 10's, 15's and. Spotter.

So far I love them. I used to use the NL pure 12’s the traded them for the EL range TA 10’s. With moving from 12’s to 10’s I didn’t spend as much time behind them on the tripod. When the 12’s came out I jumped on them. I now use them a lot more paired with my btx. It’s nice to eliminate a stand alone rangefinder and carry less gear into the field.

I’m probably the worst guy to offer advice because I don’t archery deer hunt a lot. But I can share some things I have experienced. Deer are where you find them. I haven’t found any rhyme or reason to when they are in certain areas for most of the state. Early season coues tend to keep a pretty tight program and don’t travel a lot. If you can find them scouting good chance you will turn them back up if you are patient. Mule deer are kind of nomads, tougher to pattern in my experience. Which isn’t a lot in August. Most the August hunts for mule deer are higher elevation and less glassable. If I can’t glass I don’t really know how to hunt, so haven’t done much of that. The simple fact is that this time of year in AZ if there is no water, there will be no wildlife. So figuring that out is pretty important.

I will take it. It’s actually going into a Gunwerks action. I can always upgrade down the road. What did you replace it with?

I have archery hunted Kansas for 15 years and Midwest most my life. I will tell you most definitely rubber boots are excellent for controlling scent on your way in and out. Of course choosing your route and stand location based on the wind is key to success but having the ability to tuck your pants into a boot just under the knee and spraying a scent killer on them once you have put them on is huge! Plus they help with ticks depending on time of year and the vegetation always has heavy dew in the morning and rubber boots keep you dry and warm. Good luck 👊

Check pricing with Dave Smith Motors, Kellogg, ID. Fly in to Spokane, and their shuttle will pick you up and take you to the dealership, about 40 min. away. Conduct the transaction, then enjoy the beautiful scenery on the way back to AZ - either through Missoula, or through Lewiston. If you go through Lewiston, the Jack O'Connor Hunting Heritage and Education Center is a must-see for anyone who is remotely interested in hunting, fine guns, world-class taxidermy, and some of the memorabilia of the Dean of Outdoor Writers. Last but not least, you can stop at the casinos on the way home (Jackpot, Wells, Ely, Las Vegas).
