This year will be my first coues hunt, had a tag last year but was out of state at the time of my hunt.

Wondering thoughts as to what to use for southern unit early Nov. Coues hunt. 308, 243 or 6.5CM? These are 3 that I own and debating which one to bring as my primary rifle.

This should be stickied. There's one for Elk Hunting. Just a thought.

Currently, a stock Savage 110 in 7mm RM. It's batting 1.000 on 4 deer 2 elk and a javelina.

I'd like to eventually go all out on a custom 6.5 for coues and keep the 7mm as an elk and backup deer gun while it still has plenty of barrel life, not sure which 6.5 though after reading this thread along with a couple others going.

Cool thread.

Kimber Montana 270WSM with winchester 150 gr. ballistic silver tip factory loads. I just had my triggers adj. to 2.5 lbs. sweet shooter! 500 yarders are no problem

I should be finishing up my 6.5 Sherman Short build very soon.

Stiller Predator Action,

26" 1:8 Proof Research carbon wrapped barrel.

Gunwerks Magnus stock with bedding block and recoil lug wedge system.

Timney 2 stage trigger,

Nightforce ATACR 4-16x42 F1 scope

Hoping to get 3100 fps with the 160 matrix out of a true short action. (No Wyatt box required)

Please post pictures of Frankenstein soon.

Finished the muzzle end tonight on the 6.5 SS by adding a Ryan Pierce Mini Mag "Muscle Brake"

Ryan's breaks are extreamly effective and the quality and finish are the best on the market because well...I'm the manufacturer. 😊

Needs trigger, and Cerakote yet but mocked things up and took a picture to share as the build progresses.

Yeah... .270 on top! I use a Rem 700 XCR .270 in a B&C stock, bedded recoil lug. Shoots Hornady 140 BTSP real good out to 500 yards. Weighs 8.5 lbs with scope.
