That’s a good deal. I wish I had a reason to own two sets. Good luck with sale.

Think you need like 10+ posts to PM or do the classifieds. Would keep the scammers down here too.

I took the wife and boy for Mothers Day. We only fished a couple of hours due to the wind. We kept enough for a good dinner.

You should. I would pick 5bn over any unit south of the ditch.

The Aspen Lodge in Alpine AZ has been purchased by a California couple about 2 years ago. They have become the epicenter of support for leaving the feral horses that have invaded the Apache forest alone. We, as hunters recognize the destruction that the horses have caused all across the state, but this business has refused to acknowledge the damage the horses have created and have welcomed the Salt River Wild Horse Management group to their facility. They are actively supporting leaving the horses alone and letting them continue to breed and multiply. There are other businesses where we as sportsmen can spend our dollars. It is my hope that word of their ignorant support of feral horses becomes a business detriment to them. If you are planning summer trips, a lodge to spend your evenings in during hunts.......Locate another business. This has been verified and documented by a number of people so I am not stretching the truth in any way. Please spread the word! I have to start off with a big thank you to zaccarp and qcchevy for sending me some locations and Little Creek Calls for getting my calls done very fast and actually bringing them to my house. Sunday i got off work and headed down to hunt some Goulds. Best i could do with short notice tag. Monday morning comes and first stop i get into a bird and he is coming right for me then gets to 100 yards and i watch him walk around me. Stop one is done. Try different location and i get hammered and watch a hen walk him right around me and i cant make it happen again. Now i am starting to question myself. I know i can hunt turkey but i must be making some mistakes or just not finding the right bird. Drive around and see some birds and get a few responses but thats it. Now i am worried. Everyone talks about it being an easy hunt and it was seeming to be the normal grind of turkey hunting going on for me. I wake up Tuesday and get into a bird again and work him for a bit and then coyotes start barking and howling and fired the bird up but also pushed him out as i hear him gobbling and going away. I decided to go try a different area and find nothing. Drive to a differnt location and throw out some calls and boom two birds hit me. Its on. I work them for an hour it seems and cant break one off the knob they are on and dont know why. Didnt seem like they had hens. Decide i am going to try and get closer and blow out two deer and the turkey shut up. I think its done and move out to try a different spot. Not and the next spot so i head back to wear i the birds were that i thought the deer spooked out to pick hp a nice pile of fire wood a saw and i hear them again. Decided to try and work around them and come from different side. I get to a spot i can actually glass back and see all the glass up two strutters and a bunch of hens. I work into them while my buddy took some good pics thru the glass. Got to within 63 yards of two toms. When i get there i didnt have to do anything. i ended being surrounded by hens and two other toms. The hens started walking towards me and i take a shot at one of the toms and miss and he flys up and over a tree and i was about to shoot again but the two other toms run right in front of me and i shoot and i drop one. I could hear my buddy and son Cheering for me as they watch the whole thing thru phone scope and binos. Was an awesome experience. Cant wait to do it again. Thank everyone again who helped out it was a great experience.

Took the kids, wife and father-in-law out fishing Saturday. We decided to go to Whitehorse, a lake I haven't fished in over 10 years. I didn't know what to expect so I brought rigs for catfish, trout, crappie. Well the large mouth bass were sure hungry. We caught about 5 in the 11" range and I caught this nice 16"er that was almost 3 lbs. These were my first largemouth I've ever caught. On Sunday I took my son out shed hunting here around Flagstaff and we did turn up 1 muley shed. Overall a good weekend outdoors.

In the past I had extraordinary Turkey taxidermy done by Tim Brown / Bill and Beak Taxidermy. He is no longer in AZ. A week ago I took last month’s Merriam harvest to Sven Eberson (Glendale, AZ). Pick up the wrapped & frozen meat today. Super friendly dude. He has Turkeys, ducks, quail, and other exotic birds from around the world in various stages within a shop attached to his house. Sven has been a subcontractor to many high profile taxidermists throughout AZ, but has recently cut the subcontractor work and is only doing direct work with hunters now. I can’t grade his final taxidermy work yet, but so far… his honesty, meat prep, cost, intended leadtime = pretty happy. He uses freeze dried heads. You should go see him and make your own decision, but I’ll bet he treats you right.

Anyone hunting Camp Navajo this fall? I got super lucky and drew the only non-resident tag for the first archery hunt. My packet is submitted and should be authorized into the Limited Area; so hoping to see some nice bulls. But first time; so steep learning curve with only one weekend of scouting allowed, and not sure if I'll get to scout the Limited Area either.

Love slick tricks. I'll be looking to run another one through a bull in September.

I don't think there is really better spot than others. I've done well at one end of the lake to the other. I prefer to fish the narrows. In my mind that choke point is good, even if the fish are deep because you can cast almost to the middle.

If everyone would return the hunter surveys that get sent out for all hunts by email and paper they would have really good data. Participation is only around 40%. Can’t blame anyone but the hunter for that.

Final verdict is in and i am getting it mounted. My only other strut mount had a foam head. Leaning towards the freeze dried approach. Cut and strut i think is the name seems legit for taxidermy and does this i think.Anyone else have recommendations.

My folks claim my first camp out was at Diamondrock when I was 4 months old and that would have been August of 60! My dad built a summer home in Alpine late 70's! Any time I have a spare minute I spend it somewhere in unit1/27 During the COVID lockdowns Alpine was mysteriously like gestapo mask, the cabin had visitors so I was desperate for a room. We stopped at the Aspen Lodge to try and get a room for the night! Got treated like dirtbag because I didn't have a mask on and they wanted bank for the room one night........we just said forget it and drove back to Snowflake. The development where my dad's place is has had many changes in ownership with properties and we have felt the long hand of Kalifornication within that development! It's like Joe said.....just stay in Kalifornication if you are just gonna bring it here to Az.........but I fear we are too late!!!!

All I can do is relate my 40 years of experience. I never lost a house, suffered some setbacks, didn't manage them always like I should have, but I am putting my kids through college and helping one with free rent (she puts the rent amount into her savings account each month) to get ready to buy a house in the next crash. She just graduated as a Civil Engineer and immediate was hired. No student loans, no car payments, no rent. That's what rentals did for me, and her.

Just an FYI: A house purchased in 1993 for $45k that originally sold for $50k in 1981 is now worth nearly $250k - $300k. If it was a rental and managed correctly, somebody else would have paid for the property, maintenance, and taxes, while you got a reduction in your income taxes and received some income. It's physically there, you can sell it any time. The banks recognize it as a real asset and you can get real $$$ if you decide to sell it or receive monthly income. There is work though. And you need to know the rules and manage it. Rents have gone up from $650.00 per month in 1993 to $1,800 per month in 2021. 10 houses paid off would net approximately $1,300 per month each in 2021. That would be $13,000 a month or $156k per year, plus you would still have the gross value of the houses that would be roughly $4 million. Not instant, but it happens. But I repeat, there is work and you have to know the rules! Next "big adjustment" will probably be 2026 or 2028 ish. Buy two to three years after the "crash" for lowest prices. House in 2011 that sold for $67k is now worth $390k if all spruced up. House in 2011 that sold for $80k is now worth $450k. "Crashes" in 1968, 1988, 2008. Economy has "peaked" every 18 years since the late 1800's with few exceptions. History tends to repeat itself. Big boys at the top controlling it all to make money on both sides? You don't have to believe or trust me. Check the data. I would not buy a house now for an investment because the numbers don't work, but I am looking towards 2029 - 2030 ish, if I'm healthy and my kids are pretty much out of college. BTW, I'm over 60 and have lived through two adjustments. Everything is looking like it is a repeat and on track with the past overall. Enjoy the ride! I am not a Realtor and am not pushing or selling anything. I get nothing out of what you choose to do with this information. I have been aware or involved with rentals since 1983 to some degree.
