5 pointsThe electronic tag really solves the mandatory reporting issue. If G&F forces the electronic tag they will now as soon as someone tags out. I suspect this will be coming along with draw only archery deer. It kinda sucks but the herds will never support the population of Az let alone non residents with an OTC option.

3 pointsAZGF needs to grow a pair, and make all reporting mandatory , or no draw the following year. Their piece meal approach is a joke. This is mandatory, but this is not….wth? NM requires it, the Navajo Nation requires it… the whole “ we don’t want to lose hunter retention and recruitment “ BS has sailed.

2 pointsA few numbers on Unit 1 and 27 archery. The harvest / limit they wanted in 2024 was 45 deer in Unit 1 and 90 in unit 27. What they got because the unit had to stay open at a very minimum of 6 days ( first Wednesday after open) was 80 deer killed in Unit 1 and 110 deer killed in unit 27. I love OTC deer hunting more than most, but know that going forward, it will likely be a thing of the past. More hunters, better technology, declining MD herds all contribute. It is only a matter of time until OTC is gone. Having a 1 week or 5 day season would still go considerably over their intended objective. No easy solutions unfortunately. It will continue to be a trickle effect until it is draw only.

2 pointsI could be wrong but if memory serves me correctly based on the game and fish presentations, archery success was around 11%-13% and hunters hunting with crossbows during OTC archery hunts was around 33%. This was part of the argument made for removing crossbows from all the archery hunts. As more archery units go to draw it just forces archers to move to fewer remaining OTC hunts. Thus, you will see more units go to draw. Some units are more conducive to road hunters. I predict you will see 20A go to draw in a year or two as well. I'll admit, once G&F required mandatory reporting then started publishing the actual numbers of deer taken during OTC hunts, I was very surprised. Most the mule deer units get hammered. Call me whatever you want but I have always believed there should be no OTC opportunities for NR's. AZ just doesn't have the numbers of animals to allow this. Human population in this state is growing at 1 million every 8-9 years yet our animal populations are decreasing or staying same. Then throw in uncontrolled wolf numbers, feral horses/burros, drought and loss of habitat. Somethings got to give.

1 pointDefinitely feel free to post your pics and comments. When I first got interested in suppressors, I had so many ideas from what I had heard over the years. I had a friend induct me into the cult, and since I have been helping others become addicts as well. I'm not the absolute authority on all things NFA, but I have a solid base and all my own opinions. Mostly based on facts-as I see them, others based on what I have heard. Suppressors have changed so much in the 15+ years I have been doing this, and so has the process to own them. They have lightened my pocketbook, but really helped me enjoy shooting/hunting with my family and friends. I am available to answer questions. I work at a shop and obviously we do it the best, however I actually don't care where you get started, I want people to be informed and be happy with their purchase. Im inserting a couple pics of things I uploaded on CWT over the years. Just for fun... Enfield_Innovative_Arms_integral_45acp_2_(2).mp4

1 pointIn April 2024, I was fortunate to draw an off-range oryx tag for March 2025. I’ve had a whirlwind year since drawing and timing couldn’t have been better for the hunt. With that said, we encountered severe winds with no sign of letting up, which made things challenging. With the wind gusts, everything was bedded. Due to the flat terrain, glassing for extended periods was unproductive. We would glass and go, glass and go, constantly moving. The wind gusts were so brutal that any tracks on the ground were erased, making it easier to gauge a fresh track. So we changed plans and drove roads looking to cut tracks which we eventually did. We found a group of three at about 400 yards and they had us pegged. This happened twice more with the ranges increasing each time. They eventually had enough of us and bolted. Fast-forward to the late evening, and we were able to find the same group again at 1000 yards. They had picked up another oryx, and they were now four, with only one being unbroken. A long stalk later and I had my oryx. Five minutes later, it was pitch dark. Good luck to everyone on the upcoming NM draw!

1 pointMy boy received an opportunity to hunt bison on a big ranch in Texas and it was to cheap to pass. Beautiful oak covered hill country, rich with big whitetails and all sorts of other exotics that cross between these large low fence ranches. Once we found the herd it was about an hour of cat and mouse until he got a clean shot on one of the bigger cows. Not a hard hunt but just a cool experience! Our friends from Texas joined us and helped with the butchering. Ranch house we stayed in was built in mid 1800’s and had been burned twice in conflicts with the Indians nearly 150 years ago. Can’t wait to try the meat. Left it with a processor out there and they are aging it 10 days for best flavor and tenderness. The coat on this cow was perfect! Should make a great rug.

1 pointGo to NZ and spend a month seeing the sights. The hunting is the biggest let down of the trip. I shot some ducks and geese and that was awesome, but beyond that the high fenced stuff is exactly what it sounds like, high fenced. Save the long trip and airline cost and go blast one in TX, same difference. Just my 2 cents from someone who wishes he would have spent his NZ money on just about any other trip out there.

1 pointGreat question. The first thing you do is actually buy the suppressor. You pay up front for it, decide how to own it. Decide wisely, you own it. Costs 200 to transfer it to someone else in addition to the paperwork. How to own it is the part where there are options. It is transferred to you from the dealer on a Form 4, there is a 200 dollar tax each time a Form 4 is submitted. So if you buy 2 suppressors, its 2 tax stamps. Finger prints and photos are submitted with the form 4. Personal- You put it in your name. You submit your prints and pic. You have to be present when it is being used. When you die, your heir can do a tax free transfer on a Form 5. Can be confusing to the people that get your stuff. Corporation- Form a corporation. It can own them. I dont see it often and the couple I have seen were people paying another 200 per item to get them out of their corp because they were closing it or selling it with a corp asset. (ie beach house in Rocky Point) Trust- My preferred method, but I dont push it on anyone, just remind them of the conversation....I told you so.... when you buy on a trust. Each trust is written differently but the one I use allows me to have multiple users and actually assign temp members to the trust. But lets go with the Trustee/Responsible person/persons. They have to do fingerprints and submit a passport pic when they buy an item. The tax stamp is paid and the paperwork is submitted. In all cases, a copy is required to be sent to your county LEO. They dont have to approve it, but they get notified. In the olden days, before computers, the only way to send in forms was doing paper forms. You still can do them that way. It takes longer and requires mailing printed forms and actual ink prints and photos. Most people do not do them this way currently, unless buying a NFA item from an individual. (ie Machine gun, destructive device or rare suppressor) E-file The modern way. Your dealer files the form 4 for you electronically, you docusign them. You set up an account with the ATF. This account gives you a personal login and private personal identification number. Once your forms are submitted, the ATF send a notification to have you certify that yes you are buying this item. Once that is done, they process the forms, and once they are approved you and your dealer get an email with a picture of your approved stamp on it. At that point you can go pick up your item. You do a 4473 to have it transferred but they do not normally have to do another background check. That is the basics at this time. Things change.....

1 pointAugust otc is my version of Christmas. I have spent more time hunting unit 1 than most. I don't think harvest is the only factor g&f is considering. The amount of hunters over the last few years since they instituted harvest objectives is absolutely insane and I am sure only increase. Secondly, g&f needs to institute mandatory reporting for draw tags as well to get a more accurate version of harvest. It is with mixed emotions and some sadness that I support the draw for these units.

1 pointreally? Is it not alarming to you how many deer get killed in the first weekend in those 2 units? Amazing how, once mandatory reporting is required, we now have at least some what of an idea of how many deer truly die by archery. Now if we could only get the rest of the methods of take to be mandatory reporting.

1 pointSome fun ones in the recommendations: Reduction of sheep tags in 24B by 50%. I am hearing the numbers there are in rough shape. Can it keep producing top quality rams every year? Doubling the desert sheep tags in 22. Can it produce 4 top quality rams or are they going to shoot the age class out of it? Overall a reduction of 5 sheep tags, eroding some of the gains made over the last 3 years. Looks like we might be at the start of a downward cycle for bighorns. 37B December rifle. That’s sure to be a popular choice and I am excited to see what that hunt produces. An increase of tags in 12A West. After the dry winter that’s an interesting recommendation. Pioneer license one horned ram hunts as mentioned earlier. I doubt those will attract any max point holders but we will see. Two new units for archery draw. It will be really interesting to see if this helps the overall experience in these units. There are a lot of tags offered, will the hunting be any better? Overall a lot of reductions to deer tags, even whitetail tags. Which it’s been a while since we saw that.

1 pointEarly 80’s, model 94. I say it’s 9/10 cosmetically, 10/10 function wise. Grandsons won’t shoot it. My dad bought it new and it just stays in the safe. Prices are all over the place on the internet and honestly I don’t sell enough firearms to be good at it. Would like to get 700$. East Mesa. Can meet at Sportsman’s. Not able to upload pics. I can text them if you message me. Thanks
