My nephew got his first archery buck yesterday. He is 13. They took it back to camp to skin and quarter. After everything was done, my brother was sitting there enjoying a cold beverage and another buck walks into camp. My nephew convinces him to shoot it.

I just loaded up my truck with food,water and some medical supplies. Ropes ,tie downs ,a chain and a chain saw. Me and 3 friends of mine are going up to search. I'm taking my two horses and my two blue heelers ,my truck and a quad. A friend will search in my truck. Myself and another will search on horse back while the other on his quad. Being Labor Day weekend. Hopefully he will show up. I pray that he didn't see something and get out. And tried to make a stock on something . And got lost,or overcome by heat or whatever. The vehicle definitely needs to be found. I will post any information I get or can . ASA I get any kind of information. If anything changes and He is Found , someone please let me know. Please everyone reading this. Pray for Him to be safe. Years ago I lost a uncle that went missing. While hunting . He wasn't found for weeks. And the outcome. Wasn't a pleasant one.

A few years back my dad and I had a December WT hunt. Opening morning my Dad shot a mid 90’s buck that was chasing a doe and had a young three point buck following behind. After he shot it ran down a steep hillside to die. My dad being to old to hike down to it, I went down and dragged it back up to him so we could get pictures. The Doe and smaller buck followed me the entire time at maybe 25 yards and even stayed and watched us take photos and gut it. My dad kept telling me to shoot the smaller buck and be done with the hunt. I resisted and didn’t take the shot but otherwise it would have been similar.

9 days of hard hunting in super dry conditions results in great archery buck. My son and I hunted hard for 9 days before getting an opportunity on this buck. Spot and stalk. Love chasing these things with my bow. By far the hardest antelope hunt of my life.

Knowing that area pretty well. There's only a couple of places to lose a vehicle this weekend. One is where 504 crosses chevlon creek, some of those turns are very nasty and the drop offs are extreme. The other is the deep woods on the east side of chevlon lake.

I left alot of the crazy details out. Broadside 20 yards. They left it until the next morning (unsure of the hit location, watched it bed) and a lion claimed it.

Never to me, always some other guy…..

Probably smelt the other buck and was looking for a buddy to hang with.

Grew up hunting around those dirt tanks as well in the late 70s and 80s. Quail, dove, javelina and archery deer. Before the national guard used those areas, it was always good hunting. Long drive through town before the freeways were built.

I've always loathed dove hunting, had some pretty close calls as a kid. I feel like the opener brings out the absolute least ethical and least safe Hunters on the planet. However since I got a dog that loves to chase Birds I always find myself out there.
