3 pointsHad the incredible privilege of helping my buddy fulfill his lifelong dream of killing a Dall Sheep. He absolutely crushed it at 3 months from his 71st Bday. Best part was his son had a tag to and killed a giant 11 year old ram. Northern lights were spectacular!!!

2 pointsWell it rained dang near all day. But. Back to work. Glassed up a nice herd. And a decent bull. Boom pack up let’s go. The herd was big so there had to be a bigger bull. My son and I get out there and park. We walk up about 200 yds and woah. A nice 6 by himself walking away slow. He has no idea we there. Maybe kicked out of herd? Maybe not rutting? Who knows. We get to about 80 closest and he just won’t stop. Well let’s try a cow call. He stops. I was hoping this was it. Let’s calm him in. Throw some soft cow calls and he gave to shits. Followed him for about 1/2 mile and he just won’t stop. We then turn back and go to herd. Well then that same bull bugles and then another near by. Crap. Let’s go. Long story short never saw them. Right at dark see the big herd but decided to back out for morning. IMG_0775.mov

2 pointsI was archery antelope hunting in 2B years ago out south of the power plant and was sitting in my truck glassing some flats. It was hot as heck so I was sipping on a few cold cervesas. I spotted another vehicle and it was coming my way and seemed to be in a hurry. As it got closer I noticed it was a sheriff car. I quickly finished what was left of my beer and buried the can in the back seat under my rain jacket. I was immediately thinking that they had watched me (in the middle of nowhere) drinking and thought I was going to be hauled in. I was thinking 'You've got to be kidding me" Well they pulled up next to me and instesd of arresting me, they asked if I knew how to get to the highway from here. Oh, thank god, they were just lost and pretty embarrased about it. I pointed them in the right direction and they beat cheeks out of there.

2 pointsIt was awesome watching that bull work in to you and then watching you take the shot. Those are memories I’ll never forget. Thanks again for letting me hang out on your hunt.

1 pointYouth hunts are fixing to start very soon . I've been doing the kids giveaway for a few years already and have just one winner with a deer taken with the gun she won. Past or present put up some pictures of the kids using the stuff they've won on there hunts at the range or anywhere. Pictures are worth a thousand words and the smiles on the kids faces make it worth every penny.

1 pointWish I could clear up my schedule and make it out there with you. Let me know if you need some fresh areas to look at. My group saw a bachelor group with some nice July bulls this summer during a team mountain bike ride. I'm happy to point you directions!

1 pointThought I had him. 1 bugle 5 am. Got on it. Found the herd and came up with a plan with the wind. Was about 30 elk. Decent bull maybe 300. I will take all day. Had to back out and get in front of him. Plan works. Herd is about 150 yds away coming right at me. All I needed was to get one more tree ahead. I get to the tree and fuk!!!!!! A cow was bedded 30 yds ahead and jumped up. Alerted the herd and that was a wrap. Found a few smaller bulls later in day. Not ready for those yet. Here was the bull IMG_2842.mov

1 pointWas able to get it done with my cousin. Called this bull in. Also ran into greenhorn walking down the road I was camped on. Got to talk to him for a little bit. Was wondering what kind of bull he was going to kill but looks like he killed a great bull. This is my first elk ever and I'm happy I got him with a bow. Not a 23N giant but a mature bull

1 pointWell guys no stalks tonight. Glassed up a few herds far but just couldn’t tell the size of the bulls. About 50 elk tonight and a giant herd in the neighborhoods. One thing about city hunts is a lot of locals protect there elk. Back at it in the am.

1 pointI went to Wells Fargo at Baseline and Lakeshore this afternoon to get two pages notarized. The teller took me back to his desk to sign and stamp the docs and after the first page was signed and stamped someone walked by his desk and whispered something to him. I couldn't hear it but he seemed a little flustered. He started shuffling the pages and slid them over to me with my driver's license and said he couldn't do the other page right now . I was kinda confused until he followed that with "We're being robbed". I was kinda shocked and asked him if i should leave out the back door or what? He took me to the back room that had a pass key lock and I waited there for about ten minutes with the poor gal that was the one that he had approached. She was pretty shaken up. I started hearing sirens and pretty soon a slew of unmarked cars pulled up. I heard a loud bang but it didn't seem loud enough to be a gun but I wasn't sure. Turns out they tazed his butt and we could see him being taken to one of the cars through the side glass door. Going back tomorrow to get the other page notarized.

1 pointNothing weird, but a few cool things.... Scouting and glassing for deer in U10 at one of our favorite spots (we call it the "Bermuda Triangle of the Boquillas". Strange how easy it is to get turned around in that area!). We see a dang nice 180" type 4x buck racing up the opposite side of the draw. Behind him and hot on his tail were 2 coyotes. We watched this go on for a good five minutes. The buck positioned himself at the top of a rock outcropping and the coyotes were all over the place trying to get to him. Racing up the rock face trying to get to him, and jumping off when the buck faced them and charged at them. Of course the big buck prevailed and wound up trucking up the draw leaving the coyotes behind. Have that one on video. Awesome memory. Same spot. Kid and I are walking in well before first light. We'd seen some good lion sign in the area (not only this year, but for several years prior) and the kid is saying "I feel like we have lion eyes on us". Said it several times. I'm like "shut up, get over it". After we spend all day on this point, we are walking back to the truck after dark by the light of headlamps. The smell of elk becomes strong. Getting stronger. Until we happen upon a dead cow elk, partially buried under sticks and such. Fang marks on her snout, abdomen tore open and innards (organs) gone. That elk could not have been there more than 12 hours. Very fresh kill. A certain lion kill from the evening before, and almost certainly we were being watched. There is essentially no place I get the heebie-jeebies bad or am afraid of walking in or out alone in the dark (have spent countless hours putting miles on boots, alone in the dark, and have no issues with it), but that place makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up every time I'm in and out of there alone in the dark. And that was before we found the lion kill elk! First completely natural AZ black bear sighting. I'm glassing my favorite point in 7w. I see these dark 4-legged figures hauling azz across a semi-open area. I think "javelina". I throw up the binos and it's a sow with her two cubs in tow, obviously kicked up out of the canyon to the front by some elk hunters. Passed within 80 yards of me. Pretty cool. Have spent many a year in 7w since I was 10 years old and never seen a live bear there, though I have seen sign. Last one. Ike Saddle in U22 (where the boy and I will be hunting coues this December!) back on a very cold and miserable wet, snowy, windy New Years back about 1980 scouting Javelina. Sitting around the fire warming up one late afternoon, and suddenly out of nowhere these two A6 Intruders come blasting over the saddle right above camp, upside down, flip over and race down the canyon. That chit was LOUD. We could see the pilots they were so close. Very cool experience, other than having to clean our shorts afterwards!
