Used a Yoder YS640 to smoke my Goulds. Brined in apple cider vinegar, apple juice and few more spices. 9 hours spatched cocked at 225 then to 275 to finish.

I spent most of December looking for deer up here in my neck of the woods and was quite disappointed with the quality of deer seen. Maybe January will be better. Here are a few pictures, some that I took with my camera, and some through my spotter and phone.

I dont think its a money grab at all. If you buy point guard anyway, the $25 is saving you money. As for priority of getting turned in tags, I believe that is wrong. Should be the next guy/gal in line regardless of pointguard or not.

Sure hope so! My personal opinion: the most critical time for moisture for antler growth for elk is March-May, an anything after the first week in July is probably too late to do anything. But for health of the herd, we will take it any day and time!

Maybe I misread it but I read it as you can use it three years in a row, example, grandma Lucille helps Little Timmy average up to a 4b archery elk tag with her 25 points in 2022, surrenders the tag, then does it again in 2023 and 2024. I really hope I read that wrong as that is my one and only beef with point guard and point averaging for that matter

In this image, the milky way arches over Bell Rock, Courthouse Butte, Lee Mountain, Gibraltar, and Twin Buttes near Sedona. I had been wanting to make this night panorama for a few years, and finally spent a few hours in the dark. This is a blend of about 9 images for the starry sky, and about 9 exposures for the mountains taken about 45 minutes after sunset so some detail could be captured with less noise. The native file is about 27x54" without any enlargement. After a series of images to stitch into a long panorama was shot, the night was ended with this single exposure. The light on Courthouse Butte is due to the lights of the Village of Oak Creek Nikon D810, 24mm, f/2.8, ISO 6400, 20 sec.

Just so everyone is aware, Doug loves to take photographs and has an amazing portfolio. I urge everyone to check out his site at Landscape photography of the American Southwest by Doug Koepsel (plateaulightphotography.com) You can order prints (The metal wall art is phenomenal) and you also just may find him at an art show near your neck of the woods!

A bit disturbing as they turn a cheek to the way people are abusing this whole system. as noted before other states offer a tag surrender for free. Point guard needs to be dialed in for single applicants only.

It’s gone! Glad somebody can use it

I highly recommend the system. Install is a pain, but only because of the wire running. Once it's up you will have 24/7 recording even if the internet goes out. Clarity is great, mine are 1440P but they have some clearer ones now. Everyone I've shown mentions how clear it is. DVR is rock solid. I've had several other brands and its always the DVR that goes out. Ive been running both of mine for 4-5 years and haven't had a single DVR or camera issue. I have 2 dvr's and 8 cameras. I tried other wifi brands before this brand and the clarity was horrible compared to Reolink. No monthly fees at all for local recording. App is user friendly. I can pull video and save to my phone easily. I can set up motion alerts. For $400 I don't think you can beat this: https://reolink.com/us/product/rlk8-510b4-a/

"Priority positioning for reissuing of tags" is the only reason I would consider it. It's also an obvious money grab. That's how I got my bison and one of antelope tags.

Still better than $10 a pop

Point guard was fine the way it was for the $5. This is an accounting policy pure and simple. The department is trying to get the money up front so they can better plan and budget for the future. If they notice a shortfall they can sell some more of those special tags they started selling last year. I'm telling you our G&F dept leads the way in figuring out how to make make money from hunters without ever improving hunting, habitat, or wildlife numbers.

Ok. So saturday morning put it in the smoker with a generic pastrami recipe off the net. Then i found out i was going to tucson to help with the prom dress search (Aurora is too dainty to fit in any of my glam dresses). Time got away from me and it got pulled and wrapped and sent to the oven to finish up in paper. It was in the smoker too long and got a little dried out but not too bad. Made the samiches tonight and they came out pretty darn good. I brined it from wednesday until saturday morning. Its definately something i would do again with neck meat.

Winter may bring a white sugary coating on the red sandstone of Sedona maybe once or twice a winter. The last week of February had one such occurrence. I had not photographed the snow there in a few years, so with the storm coming, I made my way down the hill from Flagstaff to Sedona so as not to get blocked by closed highways. The snowstorm broke around sunset and the vortex hill by the airport provided a great vantage to catch the light in many directions. Dawn of the next morning brought soft light and mostly clear skies as just a few clouds formed over the peaks. Cold but beautiful. The complete album of these snowy Sedona images may be seen larger and with higher resolution on my photo website. https://www.plateaulightphotography.com/New-Work/White-on-the-Red-Rocks/
