2 pointsThere is another post here titled “Your dream rifle”. THIS is a dream rifle, in my opinion! LOVE the M77’s. (I have bought two M77 30 06’s on this site… 🙄) Don’t need a .270, but bump for what sounds like a sweet rifle! Somebody should snap this thing up! S.

1 pointDoug from Camera Land's Day 3 SHOT Show Report It will seem like today I was shown the way in the dark as it was a very Thermal day. I set up some appointments with brands we have not carried so I can see about perhaps adding them to our offerings. My 1st appointment was over at N-Vision. We've been speaking since the beginning of the Summer and Tym seems like a knowledgeable guy and N-Vision seems to have some great products. I believe we will be moving forward with N-Vision. Tym showed me their HALO-XRF Thermal Scope - "HALO-XRF is N-Vision Optics latest groundbreaking product that combines state of the art BAE thermal imaging CORE with top customer demanded features, such as integrated laser range finder, onboard video recording, and WiFi connectivity. HALO-XRF is proudly designed and built in the USA, making it the ultimate US-made thermal scope with integrated LRF available to the hunting market." & NOX35 Thermal Scope - "Nox35 is a 12-micron 60 Hz small, light, and fully functional thermal weapon sight that can serve double duty as a head-mounted monocular or a scanner. When you need a thermal weapon sight that lets you move from rifle to helmet or hand-held use with ease, look no further than N-Vision Nox. This unique product is proudly designed and built in the USA, using the best commercially available 640 x 480 60 Hz BAE thermal imaging core and the highest grade optical components. Nox features a manual focus, non-rotating wide field of view 35mm F1.1 Germanium Lens to provide the best image quality in any weather conditions. Weapon and dovetail mounts are removable to reduce the unit’s size and weight to help achieve optimal NOX configuration." Next I went to meet with Arken. I had many things to discuss with the guys here. I briefly met with one of the guys here last year. After which Arken followed up with me and we started doing business together. Lots of business together. Their scopes are excellent in their price point. They've added some good products over the past year. Their accessories are very well made and priced way below industry average. We had a very attentive representative, and that made communication easy, however, he is no longer with Arken and I've been concerned about spotty communication. Those of you who know me know that with me relationships with people is key to working with a company. Once the bean counters come in and relationships disappear it's the beginning of the end. This has happened with a few companies over the past few years and it's very sad. I wanted to discuss communication issues that some of our customers have brought to our attention and, of course, see if they had anything new to show. I happily had what I thought was a great conversation with the head man. He explained that they are in the process of reassigning some of their existing people to make things more efficient, as well as adding new people so they'll be better equipped to handle their popularity and corresponding growth. I felt much better after our chat. Here's looking to smooth sailing and improved communication. Next stop was with an old buddy from the industry that I have worked with many years. He's now with Armasight. We started carrying Armasight a few months ago. Armasight is top tier Nightvision & Thermal. To say I was impressed with their offerings would be an understatement. "Armasight was founded in 2011 by a small, dedicated team focused on one mission – deliver the most advanced thermal and night vision solutions for military, first responders and consumers.Today, Armasight is a widely recognized premier manufacturer of night vision and thermal optic technologies that make our customers safer and more capable through unparalleled quality, warranty and service." The 2 units we discussed was their Sidekick 640 & Contractor 640 The Sidekick 640 - "The Sidekick 640 is the smallest fully multi-functional 12-micron 640 thermal imaging monocular on the market. This unit boasts a fast 60Hz frame rate for smooth operation and industry-best, outstanding visual acuity, based on Armasight’s Iron Wolf thermal technology platform. Weighing under 250 grams, the Sidekick can be used as a handheld mini-monocular or can be headset/helmet mounted utilizing the built-in mini-rail for hands-free operation. The high definition 1024×768 OLED display provides a crisp image, with iconography providing key information. The Sidekick utilizes simplified 3 button controls that allow for easy manipulation in the field and offers one-touch in-unit video recording to capture all of your experiences." If you want something serious in a weapon sight their Contractor 640 is their Bread & Butter. "The Contractor Thermal Weapon Sight is built around our proprietary ArmaCORE™ 12 micron thermal core. It combines extensive detection capabilities and a rich, detailed picture with onboard image processing, wireless communication interface, GPS, and internal memory. The Contractor Thermal Weapon Sight is a premium-component build that is noticeably more compact and lighter weight than conventional thermal scopes. It provides up to four hours of continuous operation on two CR123 batteries—a 50% longer run- time based on lower power consumption as compared to similar units on the market. The Contractor series also offers another first; the turret system that enables users to navigate features, such as digital zoom, color pallet and reticles quickly and intuitively to adapt to changing conditions and environments. The units come equipped with a digital compass and inclinometer that help calculate distance, direction and angles. Like all Armasight products, the Contractor is MIL-STD compliant—allowing for reliable use in all weather conditions." Staying in this area of optics I walked over to see Nathan over at InfiRay or maybe better known to you as iRay. "InfiRay is committed to providing global customers with professional and competitive infrared thermal imaging products and solutions. The main products include infrared detectors, thermal imaging modules, night vision thermal cameras, thermographic cameras for temperature measurement" as well as weapon sights. FWIW, my rep is a guy I have known in the industry for many years and not only is he very well versed in Thermal but he is a customer service oriented guy. He showed me their Thermal Imaging Monocular Finder Series- FH35R V2, which according to him @ $2499.99 it's on par with the competitions $4000.00 units. "The Finder V2 takes a big leap in image quality and user experience. The thermal sensor has higher sensitivity and the objective lens is equipped with a bigger aperture. Together with inherited features, Finder V2 fits perfectly for the professional hunter, who demands excellent performance and ultra-portable design. The 12µm 640×512 thermal sensor is upgraded to higher thermal sensitivity, reaching an NETD of Sub 20mk. In combination with the enlarged F0.9 aperture which allows for more radiation, Finder V2 is able to capture perfect details in challenging conditions." As announced a few weeks ago, we started carrying their InfiRay Outdoor AFFO AP13 Thermal Monocular - "The AFFO Series handheld thermal imaging monocular is an entry-level thermal monocular for users, featuring both a fashionable appearance and a more compact size. The AFFO Series uses a self-developed 12μm detector to produce crisp images and supports photo taking and video recording with its built-in high-speed 32GB storage capacity" Priced at only $699.00 this is a steal. A short walk brought me over to Sightron. A very interesting company. They are, as far as I know, the only Pacific Rim sport optics brand that makes NONE of their riflescopes in China. Sightron's are made in the Philippines and Japan only. They offer everything from their entry level S1 Series, priced way below what you'd expect and less than comparable made in China offerings from competitors up through their SVIII 5-40x56 ED IR Zero Stop Series. They just announced a new S6 10-60x56 ED Field Target Riflescope. It's made in Japan, offered in both MOA & MIL. (2) ED Glass Elements added to the new optical design Zact-7 Revcoat Plus Multicoating Technology ExacTrack Erector Tube System Magnetic Wheel Bundle available If you aren't already familiar with Sightron you should be. Today is turning into a visit to the premium brands day as I head over to see my buddy Butch at Revic. We carry a select assortment of Revic Products. Their BR4 Rangefinder is the type of quality unit that separates Revic from other offerings. "Onboard sensors for temperature, pressure, compass, incline/decline provide enhanced ballistic solutions at the touch of a button. Both base and vector wind inputs enable quick or fine tuned wind holds." If you prefer a rangefinder binocular than they've also got you covered with their Acura BLR10b Binocular Laser Rangefinder 10x42 with Ballistics. "A functional, intuitive design paired with unmatched laser rangefinding performance bridges the gap between size and capability. Revic's integrated state of the art ballistic solutions combined with features specifically designed for success in the field put the Acura BLR10b in a class of it's own. The Acura BLR10b incorporates our best-in-class rangefinding and ballistic technology into a sturdy, compact, ergonomic 10x42 binocular. This laser rangefinding bino features our innovative Revic Ballistic solver with advanced wind and earth based effects to provide accurate, ultra-fast corrections." Quality, amazing fit & Finish is how I describe the line of Revic Tripods. Remember all week we are running a SHOT Show Week Sale so if it's not marked down already call, 516-217-1000, and we will hook you up. If there is anything you're looking for please give us a call at 516-217-1000. It is always our pleasure to speak with you. Always give a call to discuss options and what would be best for your needs. Yesterdays shake was so good that back to Johnny Rockets I went and got a vanilla with extra whipped cream. dang that hit the spot. Thanks for taking the time to read this. More tomorrow, Day 3. 1 pointCamera Land's SHOT Show Day 1 Report Welcome to SHOT Show 2024 Day 1. This year is a bit different than years past as many brands do not have booths here this year. This will allow me the time to walk the show and perhaps find something new to enlarge our brand offering. More will be revealed once there's something exciting to reveal. I went to my first meeting with Athlon. I was looking forward to seeing my friend, and sales rep, Drake as it's been a few months since I've seen him. Part of the fun of SHOT is seeing the folks we speak to on the phone all year long. We let you know about Athlons new line of Thermals a couple of months ago. So far the feedback has been very positive. They spec as good or better than the competition and cost less. Win Win on these thermals for sure. Their new Cronus G2 7-42x60 UHD Reticle Spotting Scope has proven to be an excellent addition to the limited choices in reticle spotters. Well made, great optics, 7-42x60 magnification with their TSSR FFP MIL Reticle. APOCHROMATIC LENS SYSTEM UHD GLASS XPL PROTECTIVE COATING ADVANCED FULLY MULTI-COATED LENSES ALUMINUM ALLOY CHASSIS WATERPROOF ARGON PURGED TRIPOD ADAPTABLE RUBBER ARMOR If you want to spot with a reticle but prefer a binocular Athlon's got you covered with their new Midas G2 PRO 12x50 UHD Reticle Binocular. With it's Etched ATBR MIL reticle and priced at only $449.99 this binocular will be HUGE at the range. Expected delivery in March. We had a great discussion on their Argos BTR GEN 2 Riflescopes. IMO, these scopes are not getting the recognition that they deserve. " The Argos BTR GEN2 family is great for those looking to get started in PRS or other long range shooting disciplines. This family of rifle scopes featuring FFP and SFP models, True Precision Zero Stop, Fully Multi-coated Lenses, Direct Dial Elevation & Windage Turrets (Capped in 1-8x24), Illuminated Reticle, 30mm Tube.." They are available in various power ratios from 1-8 thru to 10-40. Check Them Out For the price you will not find a better option. Down the aisle was my next meeting at Element. MANY exciting things happening here for sure. In new Rangefinders..... Helix 1500 Rangefinder - "The HELIX 1500 is not just any rangefinder. Despite its ultra-lightweight & compact form, this unit will present you with an accurate firing solution out to 1500 Meters, harnessing the full power of the integrated Ballistics Chip to factor in weather conditions, incline, spin drift and more. Create a ballistic profile on an app, send it across in seconds, and have the relevant data displayed on a crisp T-OLED Display." Titan 3K - "The TITAN 3K is not just any rangefinder. At the push of a button, this unit will present you with an accurate firing solution out to 3 Kilometers, harnessing the full power of the integrated Ballistics Chip to factor in weather conditions, incline, spin drift and more. The high-capacity 18650 battery ensures many hours of continuous use, and can be USB Charged on your way to the range. This manual contains everything you need to know when operating this unit." RF Module - "The Element Optics Rangefinder Module takes the concept of what a laser rangefinder should be and turns it on its head. Instead of using an optical viewfinder, this unit connects to your weapon system, and can be “zeroed” to your riflescope. This eases your workflow and enables you to range and engage your target without changing position. And it’s not just the range it will tell you; the RF Module will present you with an accurate firing solution out to 1000 Meters, harnessing the full power of the integrated Ballistics Chip to factor in weather conditions, incline, spin drift and more. Create a ballistic profile on an app, send it across in seconds, and have the relevant data displayed on the rear screen." This is a great addition to the shooting community for sure. Priced at $479.99 this will be a great addition for you. They also added binoculars to their offerings.... Their new Helix HD's are available in both 8x42 and 10x42. They have nice ergonomics but I feel they are another Me Too binocular. Priced at $489.99 they are worth the price but are more of the same in that price class. Next up was Swarovski. I was curious for this meeting as our long time, and I mean loooooong time, Swarovski rep left the Optics Industry for the Fishing Industry so I have been working directly with my Swarovski customer service rep for the last few months. He's a great guy but sales is not his wheelhouse. As we reported in our Pre-SHOT Show News the new Swarovski AX Visio 10x32 Smart Binocular is a SHOT Show must see. "AX Visio: The first smart binoculars The AX Visio is the perfect symbiosis of digital intelligence and high-performance sport optics. The high-precision binoculars with SWAROVISION technology deliver razor-sharp images with excellent color fidelity." I had the opportunity to check this out and I must say it absolutely deserves the phrase "cutting edge technology". No, this is not for everyone, however, everyone should check it out. Very cool. "Would you like to show your observation to the person next to you? Simply mark the animal or object you have observed with the "Share discoveries" function activated, pass the AX VISIO on and the AX Visio will show them where your discovery is by means of red arrow markings on the display." Very slick. Use this when going birding in a region where you've never been before, where you have no cluse what birds are there and it can tell you what you're looking at. Kinda like a teaching aid. Next cool new release is the Kahles NEW K328i - The groundbreaking K328i sets new performance standards with a pioneering new-generation optical design. It offers a 40 % wider field of view*, an exceptionally comfortable eyebox and 8x zoom with perfect optical performance across the entire adjustment range. Absolute precision, repeat accuracy and unique handling for maximum performance. Riflescope available with DLR elevation turret that is optimized specially for dynamic long-range competitions with an emphasis on speed. PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS Revolutionary optical design with a 40% wider field of view* and an exceptional eyebox 8x zoom with perfect optical performance across the entire adjustment range DLR Model: 100 clicks per rotation DLR Model: Extra wide MIL line spacing for easy and fast reading Windage adjustment on the left or right with TWIST GUARD rotation protection, patented parallax adjustment integrated in the elevation turret Absolutely reliable repeat accuracy and clearly defined clicks Precise illuminated reticles in 1st focal plane Next up was Leupold. These new VX4HD's are assembled here in the USA of all USA made pieces parts. I was impressed that every screw and spring etc is sourced here in the USA, awesome. Their new BX-4 Pro Guide HD binoculars come with 3 different eyecups that are easily swapped so you get the most comfortable eyecup for you. Nice feature. No price increase over the last generation and Upgraded coatings reducing glare. These are made in Japan. There are 8 models of the Mark 5HD's available in FDE They're also releasing 2 VX-Freedom 4-12x40 & 4-12x50 (1 inch) Hunt-Plex riflescopes, $349.99 & $399.99. If you look at Leupold as the Leupold of years back take a fresh look with an open mind and we think you'll be glad that you did. Great new products priced well for you to get quality and value. We got a new Nightforce rep a few months ago and I've been looking forward to meeting him. I have to say he impressed me last week when we had a lost Fed Ex shipment that was coming into us containing a scope a customer was anxiously awaiting. He stepped up and got us one of that particular scope so the customer would get it ASAP and not have to wait for the Fed Ex disaster to be resolved. He is a personable, knowledgeable guy and I'm excited to work together with him. He showed me their new Configurable Field Spotting Scope (CFS) 6-36x50mm F1 - "The Configurable Field Spotting Scope (CFS) 6-36x50mm F1 was designed with practical field use in mind, with an emphasis on balanced ergonomics, flexible configurations, and refined optical quality, while maintaining the ruggedness Nightforce is known for. This first focal plane spotting scope features reticles that are adapted from the most popular riflescope reticles. The field-ready nature of the CFS 6-36 is reflected in the streamlined, compact, and straight design, which allows for convenient, snag-free storage and transport in, or on, a pack. The rubber knurling, 120° travel, and central location of the user controls aid in quick adjustments, while minimizing unnecessary movement and maintaining stability. Designed with configurability in mind, the Spotting Scope Accessory Cage and Spotting Scope Accessory Platform (s-RAP) provide reliable platforms for attaching thermals, night vision, red dots, laser rangefinders, data cards, and other devices, making the CFS 6-36 ideal for the professional user." Sleek and lightweight, wide FOV 6x at the bottom end, NF quality thru and thru, this is a nice addition to NF offerings. In the world of Thermals Pulsar has been an industry leader for a long time. We've done so much with Pulsar in the last year that our rep got a promotion so today I was to meet our new rep. He seems like a good guy. Time will tell of course but he seems eager to work together to deliver the same level of customer service our last rep did. As I said to him, if he's half the rep our last one was he'll be better than most. Pulsar has their new Merger Duo NXP50 Thermal Binocular Skip to product information - Duo is for both Thermal and Nightvision. More to be revealed when I get my hands on some specs. Wow, just realized that all but 2 of my meetings I met a new rep. I have to brake these guys in so they know what we all expect of them and they know customer service is paramount. I stopped by March and met with Mari. We are in talks to see if we can make this the year March works for us all. I also stopped by Riton, took a look and set up a meeting with them for tomorrow. I'll let you know what happens in tomorrow's report. My last stop was over at Garmin to look at their Xero C1 Pro Chronograph. I think this may be our 1st new product addition for SHOT 2024. Stay tuned for more on this as it develops. Remember all week we are running a SHOT Show Week Sale thru the 29th. If there's something you're interested in and it's not marked down already call, 516-217-1000, and we will hook you up.
