Each end of season, the owners of Vulture City put on a banquet to thank their employees and volunteers for the towns growing success. The owners pick a deserving member to receive a gift of my choosing, made in the Vulture City Forge. There's only a few employees and maybe 40 volunteers. It's not difficult to figure out something they might like. I make my blades, axes and other items in pairs. There's always something to beat on and something in the fire. Should there be a major mistake made, I have a backup. 🫣 This years pick is a western reenactment entertainer whom sports what looks like a Pakistani made knife. I counter sunk the pins and filled the cavity with a pinch of 21kt Arizona placer gold for a different looking mosaic. At the last minute, the wife said I should do a grape vine.on the knifes spine. The smaller knife is a gift for my daughter on Mother's Day.

Hunted in NM for about a week. First two days were really good, then it slowed down. Finally had them talking on 7th morning. Called in 2 toms about 7:30. Hit the first one, then gun jammed. It really doesn't like those 3 1/2" shells. Picked shell up off ground and missed 2nd bird. Set back up and started calling again. Half an hour later called in another tom. He came in strutting, spitting and drumming. At 30yds I let him have it. Hunt over for the year. Now hopefully I can get one archery in AZ. Good luck everyone.

Congrats on a beautiful bird! These past few hunts and storys have brought back old memories. Reminded me of a time we had a bird in tree and gobbles all around. Bird in tree flew down went different direction and another fired up and came in. My buddy devon shot and rolled the bird and it flew away. thought hunt was over but the birds kept on talking. Stayed next to same tree and another bird came in strutting. Buddy shot that bird and dropped him. Thru all excitement i left my timberline box call next to tree. Years later i am on same ridge and find myself hunting a bird and i sit right next to my call. That call is still in my pack and works. Not the best sound but i bust it out sometimes.

I do think that many don’t think of the repercussions if you do kill or wound someone especially outside when it may or may not be self defense. What shook me up a bit was when I read a story of a guy who shot an unarmed douche who broke into his house. No criminal charges but the family of the intruder sued him civilly. Dont remember the specifics but the whole ordeal but it cut deeply into his net worth defending himself. Scary stuff all the way around

The way all this Tacticool crap is marketed to us is hilarious. We had a manhunt in our area a dozen years ago and as luck would have it the meth head wound up on our patio. As he tried our front, back doors and various windows there was no working of actions. My wife stood there with my 870 wingmaster loaded with #6 shot and me with my 45 if the poor bastard were to make it in. The little stubby shotshells crack me up. Who thinks about recoil in a situation like this? Just my opinion
