Common decency is a thing of the past. Trail cams were a fun off season activity that we got to share with friends and family. All because of a couple of turds on the strip the rest of the state has to suffer. Everyone who now sees a cam thinks “it’s illegal”.

In 1964, a guy could walk into the local Montgomery Ward and put a Springfield 30-06 on lay-a-way, for a dollar leaving a $40.48 balance. Here's the proof. Was given a box of old Weaver scopes Sunday, , model 330 and K 2.5. The receipt was in the box. Perhaps the K 2.5 was to be mounted on the .06? Looked at the 1964 Montgomery Wards catalog to see if maybe the Springfield in question was a sporterized M1903, but the closest thing advertised was this Enfield for under $23.00. Those were the days...

Pretty lame if you ask me. Not anywhere cool, and just a cam I take my kids to so we can see if anything is on it. And def an area I do not hunt in except for sheds. Noticed someone put a drinker nearby it too. Owell. Just wish folks would leave other stuff alone.

I have some that I ordered during the crunch. I paid $76/100. If you need some then let me know but I don’t want to take a loss on them. I’m located at 91st Ave and thunderbird.

Last couple of years I have been using a single reed rocky moutain elk call for making cow sounds, bugles, chuckles, and a few other noises. Works just fine for me. Had a few come right up as late as Oct 10th last year. Start with a single and learn then go from there. You'll find what works best for the size of the call, how many reeds etc. It's more about what fits your mouth when you call not just the quality and brand too. But those can also help also

Dang, when I was a punk kid I thought snow removal at the landscape company I worked for back in PA was brutal during blizzards but that takes the cake! I never had to shovel more then 6', that's character building right there!

I was working for Mont. Wards in 1964 as a dept manager and that rifle purchase would have been one half of my weekly pay. Just to put some perspective on prices and wages. I did meet my current wife while working there. Just sayin. Bill

This 760 was dad's first new gun, bought it in1952. The Weaver variable 1.5-3X was quite the bomb 70 years ago. We've taken so much game with it, its nicknamed the 'Meatpole.'

With the elk/antelope deadline upon us I figured it would be a good time to make a post about my September elk hunt. Long story short I wanted to hold out for a better bull than I killed in 2017 so I was being a little picky. After a week of passing on a few bulls and not really seeing anything I was willing to shoot I decided to try some different areas. Blake had seen a straight 6x6 he guessed to be 350+ so I went into the area to try and turn him up. He also mentioned there was a big 5x6 in the area and to be on the lookout. We were able to find the 5x6 and after a couple blown attempts he made a mistake. We slipped in behind him pushing his cows out into the burn to feed and when he doubled back to chase off a smaller bull, we happened to be in between them. It was a chip shot at 43 yards and my arrow center punched him and he took off running. We trailed him for a little over a hundred yards and when we didn't find any blood we opted to back out to return the next morning. Not how I wanted it to go but that's just how it sometimes is. By far my best bull and I'm not sure I'll ever harvest a better one, but it won't be for lack of trying...
