Thanks, ive never used minnows before… they poop a lot after feeding. They’re getting so yoked.

I had a great first day of my season in between storms with @trphyhntr. We were the only crappie guys on the lake. I'd read here from Dan that SC stocked crappies. I believed them a couple minutes in and would bet the boat they were blacknose. All but 3 on the table were bn and they are looking great for the spawn. Thank you to them for the stocking and I hope they sell some licenses for the ROI. I'll be back.

My son turned 12 on Saturday. He loves shooting pigeons, so a friend and I made plans to shoot the day after his birthday. Little did I know he'd have major attitude because he wanted to play with his new 3d printer and ride his dirt bike at his moms, but I made him go anyways and saw him crack a few smiles. We kept Scooch busy. In total we killed 80 birds. She had 36 retrieves and my buddy's black lab had 44. Dogs worked well, we worked hard on her steady to shot, and she rode the lightning a few times remembering her manners. They both napped hard on the way home.

Bloody veins in the egg sack are getting ripe for the spawn. They are close to spawning for March 9 and water temp only 55F. I typically see this 3-4 weeks later, maybe more. Maybe it is stable weather, maybe it is blacknose, I don't know but I'm excited for a productive spawn and hope SC holds water.

SIX, here’s a teaser to get you fired up! This was the years you could run cameras and some bulls I had hunters on in 6a. Unfortunately, out of 3 guys only one wrapped his tag. The other 2 both had great shot opportunities and caved under pressure. This bull I watched most the summer in 2019 and first week of September he moved 4 miles south. Called him in and guy from New York missed him twice under 40 yards 😫😫 Had 9 bulls on this water at once! This tank was deadly when it could hold water into September which was always hit or miss. Sick Bull we named jigsaw. Never could turn him up after he shed velvet. Buddy from Michigan missed a chip shot on this bull…Bull rattled him bad

It was way to much to post in here. I just listed all my antique boxes and crates. There are quite a few of ammo boxes. Everything is on craigslist under antiques for more pictures. Make a reasonable offer.

If you’ve never shot an elk before, I would shoot every animal you possibly can before that hunt. Coyotes, deer, bear… Just so you can get used to shooting things in the wild. This will probably be the last tag you ever get in that unit, like the other guy said. So make it a great hunt. I would start scouting cow herds this spring and keep tabs on where they are and where the water is. The bulls will show up, during the rut. Even if you had to take out a loan, it might be worth it to get a Guide, like Ground And Pounders or something.

Must be somethin' in the water. I had crappie tonight too. @trphyhntr had the kind of energy that made them crappies jump right in boat.

Joined a buddy on his bull elk hunt in late November. Cooked up some of the loin/backstrap that he shared, this weekend. (Got distracted and left it on the grill about 2 minutes longer than intended.... )

I built a new rifle just for this hunt. A double square bridge mauser chambered in 9.3x62. Bullet of choice was 286 grain partitions and 200 grain Federal hard cast polymer coated 10mms. Here's the one 10mm bullet I fired

Congrats on a great hunt. I drew the late rifle tag in the same unit. I was up there last year during your hunt and heard bugles every night and morning and saw some incredible bulls. I met a guy with the tag and helped one evening when all of his help had to come back to the valley. I will be up there most of the weekends during the rut and up to my hunt scouting. Let me know where you are camping and I would be glad to give a hand or point you in a direction if I have seen anything. Obviously the hunts are a long ways away right now but it will sneak up on us. Good luck

Pine Grove and Rattlesnake. With a just a bit of research, you'll find them. GMU-6A-2024.pdf From AZGFD website: "mountain mahogany, and juniper berries. Water is always important, and stock tanks are abundant in the GMU. The Rattlesnake Quiet Area is a good area to start looking. The Pine Grove Quiet Area and surrounding areas are also good places to look."

Look these up on the Burris website, youtube, etc. I started using them and now my go to standard. Solid versatile and good choice for long range setups.

I can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading. I had a 2 year war with G&F over crop damage from javelina. It wasn't any small amount either but was tens of thousands of dollars a year. I was told so sad too bad. Other than lip service there was absolutely nothing they would do. Also found out the state owns the animals. Looking back I should have hired an attorney and fought it in court. I opened the farm up to any hunter that would ask permission. Even at that the trash and vandalism was crazy. Having experienced what the hunting public can do and wildlife damage I would support LO tags if they were structured properly. And how many hunt where improved livestock waters are the only source of water? Cattlemen have down far more for wildlife than the harm to the environment that cattle cause.

Agree 100%, this reminds me of ranchers in TX who are "decimated" by the feral hogs..... but want $500 for a 150# hog. No thanks. Keep crying.
