And that’s why I quit putting in for the N of ditch hunts after my last draw up there . Getting on the long side of the shadows to wait for years. I got hit for one of 4 way down south tags, from muley to coues throughout November. None are great tags, but I get to go hunt . Had one of the 4 last year, had a good hunt till I got sick and had head home early… sad that I’m that “ opportunity” guy now . Same with elk, I’ll chase cows for freezer meat every year or so rather than die of old age hoping for a quality bull tag.

Finally had a chance to mount one of my own bucks. Found this guy cruising an oak hillside just after he had gotten out of his bed in the afternoon. Good luck to all that got some CC hits!

I've got one that my father acquired 'new' in the box in the early 60s (Was found in an unsealed crate in an old warehouse at the Ray mine when they were relocating things to make room to expand the mine to an open pit operation. They found a crate full of brand new Model 94's, that had been purchased by the mine in the late 19-teens to guard against a possible raid by Pancho Villa. They ended-up raffling them off to the miners. Dad ended-up with one....). It was manufactured in 1915. Oldie with full buckhorn sights, etc. Love these old rifles!! Would have put my name hat but looks like you have a line of willing buyers, already!

4 adult deer tags, 3 youth deer tags! Going to be super busy this fall with elk tags for adults and youth. It is either no tags in the draw or we get everything we put in for.

Unlimited OTC tags for essentially the last 30 years coupled with some back to back harsh winters and a healthy predator population, especially gold eagles that eat the lambs. AK is a huge state so it varies a little depending on where you are at. They are still trying to figure it out exactly but what’s for sure is it’s not looking good anywhere.

Hunting is hard, I don’t particularly think of it as fun I guess. Fishing, is fun. Hunting is work, in most cases.
