I was able to take my son on his second youth turkey hunt this past weekend (last year being the first). After several close calls on the first day of the hunt with no shots fired he was able to connect on this tom on the second morning. The birds threw us a curve ball on the first evening and roosted in a different location several ridges away. From hunting this location in years past I knew where I wanted to get before first light and set up. The birds ended up being roosted a little farther than what I had thought but I still liked my chances and setup. There were several toms gobbling off the roost but you could hear the hens show up to pick them up. They were out of sight over a ridge or two. It sounded like they were starting to head the other way but luckily the boss hen was talkative and we got into a nice argument. After about 5 minutes of back and forth she decided to come kick my butt. And guess who she brought with her a strutting gobbling tom. My son made a great one shot kill to the head. I love it when a plan comes together. It is so fun and exciting to be able to share these experiences with my son, some of my favorite hunting memories.

Wife got lucky and drew this tag again with 2 points. She had it a few years ago and shot and missed at a giant and had a whole bunch of close calls. It’s redemption time this year. Cant wait for this hunt!

"I'd really like to go this year" doesn't mean "I'm going this year. I wasn't asking". If I were someone that knew anything about wyoming antelope advice you'd be the last person I offered to help. Don't come asking for advice and when people give it to you you don't like it. Figure it out yourself. PS- I hope the "lowest density" wyoming unit you draw doesn't have any antelope left to kill when you get there because "you weren't asking". Pss- 21 points in az is as good as having 2 points and there's a chance you never draw a rifle az antelope tag in your life.

Antelope bucks only take 3 years to max out their potential. I'd keep building points and wait until the population has a chance to rebound in 4 years. You've already been in the game for 8 years. A few more won't hurt. The price increase might scare off a few folks and open up your chances for a premium experience down the line. Now isn't the time to settle.

I have been on 2 hunts in 35A, the first had 5 tags and the second hunt 4 years later had 12 or 13 tags both hunts were over opening day and we didn't run into any of the other hunters on either hunt. I did participate on the surveys for both hunts that were a couple weeks before the hunts. It was pretty fun and every evening I would sit down and go over the survey data and discuss with some of the other hunters who had tags where they planned on hunting it was quite beneficial.

15’ 1985 Rinker with a 90 horse Johnson outboard. Have a brand new motorguide 45# 12V trolling motor I never mounted I can install if you want it. Motor runs good considering it’s age actually ran better than ever last trip out. Only selling because I bought a newer bass boat. The platform up front is removable and has a couple more seats underneath for more people. Back seats fold flat to make cots with storage underneath. Carpet towards back is just wet from the car wash not stained a different color. Boat will come with a cover I bought about 18 months ago from sportsman’s. Two 5 gallon gas cans using premixed 50-1. Not really sure what to ask with the way the boat market is so make me an offer. I can try to find a day to meet at lake Mary if buyer wants to run the boat before purchase. Headed out of town shortly but when I get back I can start it on muffs and post some videos of it running. Boat is in williams. Text works best 928-451-4233.

Headed down to 29 Sunday till Tuesday to do a little scouting for the wife’s Gould’s tag. Going to leave the trailer for a few days. Has anyone had any issues down there with people messing with camps? Hopefully the birds are talking, can’t believe she drew with half the points I have. Should be a good time. Just left youth camp last weekend, was able to call a tom in for my son. Good practice, we’ll see if the luck continues.

Rosey is a fickle gal. If you get on active fish there are tons of shad available. Water is clearing and visibility is 10’+ in some areas. The fish have tons of unfishable water and are near finished with spawn. Water temperature in mid-lake are 66-70 F. Average fishermen are catching a few and experienced can have super days. Weekends are loaded with tournament boats that have no regard for anyone else.

Thanks for the info. Seems rather odd, that you can do all other things on public land except touch antlers. I think CPW is definitely the strictest wildlife agency I've ever dealt with.

Here’s my 2 cents. I grew up in Casper and know WY antelope pretty well. Apps aren’t do until May 31. You will have much more info once the locals can get out and put eyes on the antelope heard now that the snow has/is melting. Wait till you have more info. It might be a good year to draw a tag from a pure application percentage point of view. Also, antelope get big around 3-5 years old. The winter die off may not affect that segment of the heard as much as older bucks and older does. This might be the year to draw a tag. If the fawn recruitment sucks and the does got hammered this winter, it may be 5-8 years before we see a bounce back in antelope populations. Population bounce back may not translate to a better chance on accomplishing your goal of getting a nice buck. Side note, If you decide to hunt around Casper I have a house there you can rent. Andy

Nummie and I are going to try it Sunday. We were going last Saturday but Liars Corner tourney had 100 boats both days.

Tough place to be in for sure. From what they're saying some units have experienced huge winter kill as high as 50% of the population. I think the thing that would worry me the most is if WY goes to 90/10 which would really hurt the NR draw odds.

Hello, on 01/21/23 at approximately 2330 hours someone in a silver dodge ram lost a very special item in front of the Starbucks at 5900 west Olive in Glendale. Let me know if it’s yours and I can direct you to where it is being safely stored.
