Went back out for an afternoon hunt and knocked down 10. Absolutely love hunting these birds.

NFL has more integrity than CFB now. Any program that shows a sign of being good will be poached... with NIL players move and they could move during the season - just crazy. Its a 1-2 year stability at best.

And now the players all get 30 days back in the transfer portal, college football has been ruined by this crap

For me the cons of the etag out way the benefits. The regular tag I just put in my wallet and use it when I harvest an animal. The etag, I had to still carry a piece of paper to attach to the animal, along with something to write on the paper, along with some kind of tape or something with enough strength to attach the paper to the animal without worrying about it coming lose or getting ripped off during a pack out, and a phone that has a charge. Pray your sharpie or pen works, especially if everything is wet. Hope your phone doesn't get bounced against something and get destroyed, or you forget a phone charger and you can't power it on. The only convenience I see with an etag, is you never worry about losing your tag. I tried it once and then went back to the physical tag.

Fourm needs some hunting content so I thought I'd post my January archery buck. Opener I missed him in his bed at 58 after a crawl. Arrow deflected on a piece of grass in front of him that I didn't see. Clean miss. Next AM before light an epic battle occurred below me. Couldn't wait to see what they were. The guy I missed the previous day got whooped and was being escorted out of the area. He bedded on the top of small ridge. Guy who kicked his butt was a big old guy with crabs all around. He got a pass. Solo stalks are fun with no spotter but I had a hunch he'd stay for a bit after his whooping. I started crawling up the slope stalking the bush he laid under. Stalk took 2 hours to get to 30. I got to 30 from the bush and no deer or sight of him. Figured he'd left but I've been burned before thinking I was done. So I stood up slowly and still nothing visible. Crept up standing. At 22 yards a big rack was now visible from a bedded deer. I couldn't see him as his face was in the dirt. I only saw him after he woke. So he's at 22 yards bedded, doesn't know I'm there. No play. He's gonna have to stand and walk left or right three yards for a window. 4 hours later after I watched nothing but his rack move, and listening to him groom himself, he stood, stretched, and started feeding. Shot was 28 yards. He went about 150 and bedded. Found him dead in his bed an hour later. Sorry for crappy photos. He's only 17+" inside but he's tall and forky and heavy and scores well.

For those hunting the archery javelina season....are you seeing more activity in the morning or afternoon? I can't find a javelina at this point! Thinking these cold mornings have them bedded down until it warms up?

My guess is if/when OTC tags are available online they’ll only be e-tags…

It has been super convenient for draw tags. Not worth the hassle to go to an office for the over the counter tags. If kiosks or online purchase off over the counter tags become available will be nice.

The biggest and only benefit I see currently is the harvest data is mandated with the e-tag. The rest of it is about the same.

I took all three of my children with me on almost every hunt for 10 years. It was fun for all of us. You'll have many years to hunt alone, and it will happen soon. My favorite hunt was a elk hunt. we were hiding and calling in a group of small pines. A nice bull was coming in. at about 50 yards my boys started making Vroom Vroom sounds. I looked down and they were racing pine cones. Since you're new, you will still learn a lot with the kids hunting with you.

Assuming you have cell phone service when you log in with another device. It would be great to have both - or be able to print E tag prior to tagging an animal- with the current system when you E Tag - it means you have killed. With the Etag one has to remember to bring a pen (pens break/ dry out / hard to write). on the other hand, I witnessed people not sign the paper tags - and always fun to watch them figure out how to sign without a pen.... o system is fool proof. Most likely one is not going to run into a warder miles away from the road, most wardens watch and wait by a vehicle or wait on a road. If someone want to poach and not tag their animal it is very easy with paper tag or E Tag- Pros and Cons to both - with a few updates the E Tag will be good.

It’s like the Costco digital membership card on costco app. The old card was fine, no problems…. Keep it in wallet. The digital card on app is fine too. Both ways work, use whichever one you like. I don’t think people will argue too much for one over the other. One thing on lost tags, if you lose physical tag, you have to drive to a AZG&F license dealer and get new one for $4, and complete an affidavit if I remember right before you can “tag” it. If I lose my phone I can sign into any other device and still e-tag it which could be a big deal depending on how far the nearest license dealer is when hunting. It’s also very easy to transfer possession to someone else for transport using the e-tag For anyone who is curious what it looks like when you e-tag an animal, this was from my deer hunt in Nov:

I used the E Tag yesterday on a javillina. For horned animals I imagine it would be okay, but for javillina it sucked ( IMO) the "issued tags" worked well putting it through the leg and would stay on - electrical tape not so much. The dang number was hard to read in the sun- you have to complete the harvest study before you get the number- not a big deal. Believe me E tags can be lost - just leave your phone at camp / truck or lose it. I wouldn't say I didn't like it but its not great.

No lost tags or licenses Immediate reporting of harvest info All licenses and tags on phone in one place No need to carry tag or license in field No waiting for tag in mail …….Are a few benefits I see
