My son was finally blessed with his first kill of any kind. For the last 3 years he has hunted busting his but trying to get a buck. He has a condition with his hips where he has a flat spot on the ball. I know it hurts him but he never complains so I have keep an eye on him. We had to deal with high temperatures down south. On Sunday we went to a spot my cousin said may hold good Muledeer i was thinking it might be easier walking. We we didn't find any muledeer and about 9 we where on the move to another glassing spot. Something told me to stop the truck and glass and within 5 minutes I had 2 whitetail bucks at probably a mile. We got ready and moved in on them. We found them again at 500 yards and watched them bed. Then we moved closer within 300 yards I told my son to settle in it might be a while. Well he was getting restless and we spoke about if he was wanting to stay or head back to the truck. He said let me think about it for a while I responded with ok while you think about it I will glass maybe one of them stood up. And sure as shoot the 2x2 was on his feet. He got excited and told me he would take him he just wanted to get the first one done 300 yards he drilled him after 2 nervous misses. The good old 243 with handloaded 100 gr hornandy sp

After a couple missed opportunities Friday and Saturday, a buddy’s son spotted this guy bedded at 288 yards. My son decided it was the deer for him and the rest is history. Fantastic hunt and experience. Couldn’t be prouder

Had a great hunt this past week. Was able to be joined by my oldest son and we were guided by Dillon the owner at Chasin the King outfitters. I’ve hunted with Dillion before and I can’t say enough about Dillion and his crew. Not only is he an expert at his craft but he’s one on the most knowledgeable guys I’ve met on the plant life, and the history of the area you’re hunting. If you want to know the name and details of each shrub or tree he’ll bend your ear. If you’re fortunate enough to work with Dillion be ready to work. He’ll push you to the limit but keep you laughing as you climb up and down each canyon.

Great job dad and son! great buck and pretty big hole in the side of him also. He wasn't going to go far with that!

His dad just passed away a mouth ago and was supposed to be there. JJ "tag holder"decided this hunt was for his dad and wanted to go ahead and go. We all thank God on how everything played out. Wasn't a easy hunt and 102 degree temp midday Wasn't ideal for kid's.

I found the lion thread and read through it again after all these years. Always fun to go back and read from some of our previous members that we don't hear from anymore.

Congrats to him on a stellar buck and HUGE kudos to you for helping it come together. What a great story! And +1 on the added points for carrying out with a stick! Been there haha.

I’ve had some burnout out in the last couple years helping new to hunting guys (asking for my help) that don’t match my style which is hunt hard, serious, and grind it out to give urslf a chance. Coupled with spine, neck, shoulder issues I started losing my drive to hunt. Some guys need to have somebody to hunt with for whatever reason, social interaction, inexperience, or basically just to be guided without putting in any effort themselves in tags they’ve waited so long to draw. I don’t feel that I need any help, have zero issues being by myself and my success/failure is based on me and me alone. I enjoy helping people but am getting back to my solo roots where I can do my thing on my own and only be frustrated with myself if I screw it up. Tough solo pack outs are just part of the reward and experience.

You can sleep when you’re dead keep grinding lol… It definitely gets harder but it’s still fun and the hunt is temporary so you can rest up and go fishing

At 75, I still have the drive and desire to hunt, but none of my friends want to go any more. Add to that the length of time to draw a decent tag, and I rarely get to go any more. I have no desire any more to go on a mediocre hunt that has 6-700 tags and hunters on every ridge. I still enjoy archery javi because I can go alone and pack one out by myself. I guess I’m spoiled by hunting Az since the early 70’s. A lot has changed!

My wife and I just got back from a Spectacular fishing trip with Jim's fishing on Mohave lake. We both caught our personal best Striper. We were extremely fortunate to bring 12 fish to the boat in about 6 hours of fishing. If anyone is looking for a fun fishing trip, I HIGHLY recommend giving Jim a call. 928-245-3487
