My son drew second choice this year, a unit we hunted two years ago. Opening day came and Christian, my pops, Colby and I got to glassing. It was a slower than usual morning, only 5 small bucks. We had an interesting find, saw a pack of 14 maybe 15 dogs cruising the mountains. No collars, all dogs were a different breed of pit, boxer, lab, German Shepard etc and looks like none of them were tracking scent, sure didn’t look like lion dogs. They covered some good country so we decided to hit a different spot for the afternoon. That afternoon we hit up a glassing spot we seen some nice bucks in with some lions in the past. I glassed this buck right at 3:20 getting up from his bed 1030 yards. The boy and I grabbed our gear and spent the next 30 minutes going uphill to get in range. After the shot, it was even more difficult getting to the buck and even worse packing him out. The cat claws were amazingly thick and we enjoyed every moment of it. We know that when we are back in school/work, we would rather be out in the field getting cut up by catclaw.

Man, it sucks that after your once in a lifetime hunt you spin a story like this. Bottom line is, rams move and you lost your ram. He moved into where our guys had last seen our target ram. In fact, it’s less than a half a mile where we had last seen our target ram and killed the ram you had seen all summer. You also didn’t know they killed until I told Pat. If they were so close, why didn’t you guys hear a shot? If you had some kind of agreement, wouldn’t you need to meet or talk to our guys which you never did, until they invited you to camp that night after they killed . A video was never sent, that right there is another lie. Man, move on and enjoy the stud you killed.

My daughter turned 10 this year and was time to get her hunting big game. She got her first javelina in February. After that it was time for the fall draw. We were hopeful she would draw an early rifle tag. My Dad, wife, and myself all drew deer tags and she didn’t draw to our surprise. I was able to get her a leftover muzzleloader tag after the fact that we made the best of. She missed one buck the 2nd day we were out. The following day she passed on a couple 2x2 bucks. I found this buck shortly after bedded and the pursuit was on. Took us 2 hours to get up to the buck and get her in position for the shot. She killed this buck at 190 yards. Broke his G2 tumbling into the canyon below. She was a trooper and got herself a great first deer.

I am the other hunter. I found and began filming this ram in July. I set camp on November 3rd for my November 15th hunt. I was a DIY hunter, I did not use a guide/Outfitter I did not run into ADO from 11/4-11/13 during my pre-hunt scouting. Or anyone in the heat of the summer from July through October. I spoke with all the deer camps in that area and the only sheep hunter they witnessed during this time frame before the hunt was me. Someone sent my videos of this ram to Bryan with ADO on Wednesday November 13. Thursday November 14th ADO showed up. I was told ADO moved into the area because they lost their target ram and thought he might have moved into the area I was hunting my #1 target. I was also told ADO would let me hunt the ram I had been watching for 5 months. They would hunt the ram they had planned on and I would hunt the ram I had planned on. They called it the "Sheep Code" I went to the ADO camp Friday night to congratulate the hunter and to see his ram. I immediately recognized the ram and mentioned it to Bryan who attempted to act like he didn't realize it was the ram from my videos. It was obvious I got played as everyone had a different story to tell me from we stumbled into the ram to we slept on it Thursday night. What's done is done. I have nothing to add to the story. Congratulations to the hunter on the best ram I found in the 50+ days over 5 months that I spent looking at sheep.

According to dennis(he's in Wyoming right now shooting whitetails and antelope) the lady that owns the property was going to sell the land to a grocery store. Btw our last fishing trip to woods canyon. He had a special lure, which I lost 4 of.

Well my best friend Waldo called me on the last evening to apply . I told him with only having 8 points just apply for the units with the most tags. The results came out and he had tag number 5 for unit 45C . I quickly called Eric Hunt with Arizona Desert Outfitters. It was a no brainer Waldo hired him for this once in a life time hunt. Our guides on this hunt would be Bryan and Riley they had spent a lot of time in this unit and there knowledge played a huge part in Waldos success. A few days before the hunt they sent a photo of a giant ram they had found. Well as rams do he disappeared on them we got word they were out in full force trying to relocate him. On our drive down we got word that they had not been able to relocate are target ram but had found even a larger ram. Waldos luck continues ,opening morning found us on a 2 hour hike to get to the ram. Riley had found this ram Thursday afternoon watched him till dark then spent the night out there with him so he could keep eyes on him. Luckily the ram stayed in the same area so once we arrived Waldo made a great 400 yard shot and was done by 7:30 opening morning . Cant thank Arizona Desert Outfitters enough special thanks again to Bryan and Riley

jAfter missing a buck in the October hunt in Az , I headed to the cabin in New York for the opening week of rifle season in Sullivan County. Saturday morning , opening day , was in the low 30’s and sunny. Get in the stand around 7 and 3 does came out of the Laurel around 8:30 , one ended up bedding down 39 yds from the stand. The other a bit farther away. Head in for some lunch and back in the stand by 1 , the girls reappeared and fed their way under the stand. They milled around all afternoon and were not overly excited with my leaving the stand at 4:30. Sunday morning , similar conditions , and around 8:45 , I see a single deer off to my left behind some laurel and scrub oak. Pull up the binoculars and see antlers. Turns out to be , eastern count, 5 pt. ( we are in an antler restriction zone, minimum 3 pt one side to be legal), I aim at an opening between 2 trees , pull the trigger , and he is off like a shot over an incline into a bowl. I heard him crash. Went about 100 yds before piling up. Field dress and back to the cabin. Weather changed and had rain all day Thursday, turning to snow around 8 pm and snowing for the next 20 hours. About 14/16” snow. Hard walking for sure. I apologize in advance for the haphazard nature of the attached photos.

If the 358 win barrel is for the contender and not the encore then it should be noted that it is reduced reloaded ammo only. A standard 358 win is too much pressure for the contender action. GLWS

So this hunt honestly was hard. On scouting we climbed a big hill on a windy evening and didn't see anything, but my Spidey sense told me it was a good spot. Well, don't always trust your Spidey sense I guess. Day one we climb the hill that looked ever so promising and not a single deer to be glassed up under good conditions. So for the afternoon we go to another area to sit water. Bumped a bunch of deer in a nice shady area. No chance the rest of the day. Day 2 we head further in and bump deer again at the same spot. I made pins of all the water sources. Day 2 we head further in bit again bump a doe and fawn at the same spot. But head further to where I had a good feeling. I knew we had a good plan. I leave Kiki with the rifle and decide to go out the bottom and see if I can glass something. I hear a shot and me and Bucky rush back. He took a shot I would have told him not too but glad he missed. I hop out and decide to try a one man deer drive. Nada, We decided to move back to the deer bumping spot. I have him head before me with another deer drive idea. I'm in place and sure enough he bumps deer at the spot. I come in on my drive and nada. All deer already left town. Now me and Bucky put in 9 miles that day and by the time we were sitting again my jeans have tears on both knees. It's hot and we decide let's pull out. So I decided to go full village people mode and turn my jeans into boy shorts. Cuz when you are hunting wearing short jean shorts is how you attract studs. We head out and Bucky ain't doing well on the hike back. He won't leave my side when hunting so he went with on the deer drives, that little guy did 9 human miles and he was overheating on the way to the truck. Kiki says "Dad, if you carry the rifle I'll carry Bucky the rest of the way." Seemed fair. Kiki took that night off and I took Enoch out for the evening , nada. Third morning, I decided to sleep in and needed a rest day. Day 4 we decide to hunt the deer bumping spot. And of course we bump a doe an fawn as we get there. Leaves are thick and impossible to navigate quiet but we decide this is the spot. I'm running out of time and this was my last morning so anything with horns is on the menu. I decide to glass a nice area while I leave kiki with the rifle set up on deer bedding central. I'm glassing a promising spot when I hear a shot. I haul butt and round up gear. I find Kiki checking out his second buck. Good times. I'm relieved because I couldn't do any more mornings. He was relieved because he's been putting in miles and as it turned out for a spike! But that's life and that's hunting! Bucky got his fill of fresh meat and we hiked back to the truck packs full and heavy. What a great experience. And we also got a nice shed too

Don’t pay this guy any mind. He’s a Randy Newberg cling-on, just here to troll the locals and pimp out our wildlife like his homie.

With a little imagination, this could be quite the story. But, the truth really isn’t that interesting. We were hunting where we had been, for a ram that we had seen previously. From my understanding, the other group was doing the same a few miles away for a ram that they had seen. While trying to relocate our ram, we stumbled right into the ram that we killed. According to the other group, it is the ram that they had seen previously. I’m not sure what we would do differently. When they came to our camp, we gave the other group info that night on where to hunt for the ram that we had been after, which is a heck of a big ram. If anybody that was actually there feels that they were wronged, we haven’t heard about it. I hope that clears it up. -Riley Pearson
