Buffalo tomahawk steak, over charcoal and applewood, whatever dry rub seasoning we had laying around. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had.

just finished the second coues hunt in 36b. it was tough for sure but think it was more heat and moon related. that being said still had 30-40 deer days every day. almost everything was 1.5 year old spikes/forkies. think our total count was about 35 bucks over the 7 days. deer were really up feeding and moving about 9-1030 in the morning and the last hour of light and it was getting better later into the hunt as the moon was rising later. Still think we are struggling from the 21 drought for a missing age class of bucks.

Was able to connect on a decent little 3x3 175 yards with my CVA Optima this year. Of course after the shot a much larger buck ran out from behind cover, still happy with this guy.

I think you hit the nail on the head with that Drought but pretty sure it was 2020. I think we're feeling that big time right now. I know the areas I hunted in 2020 I did not see a single fawn.

It's a pro-4x with 157k. Runs good. Only issue is the passenger rear door handle broke off. Ice cold ac. Brand new cooper all terrains. The paint job is not factory. It's got a little glitter in it. But if you leave it a little dirty it's hard to tell🤣 I'll post more pics in the next few days. Asking $8900 obo. Might consider partial trade for a quad or rangefinding binos. Located in the Safford area. Willing to meet within reasonable distance.

I'm sorry but trying to see if you can hit an animal at 750 yards is not ethical. If you cant sneak within 3 or 4 hundred yards then why are you hunting? I know I'll get a lot of pushback on this but show a little respect to the animal and work to get a clean ethical shot. Obviously you weren't skilled enough to do that the first time. This is what gives hunters a bad name.

Well actually Id be on board for a lot of those things too especially if it meant more opportunities to hunt. There are no stone tablets saying you can use whatever tech on whatever weapon to hunt in whatever season. There isnt a line at the bottom of the bill of rights saying that you are granted the unalienable right to use a crossbow in the archery season. Game departments are supported by selling us hunting licenses and tags. Game animals are a finite resource. They can make the tags very expensive and sell a limited number of them (think about the states with lots of expensive out of state tags) or they can try to limit the success of hunters so they can sell more tags at a lower price. I know what I want them to do but maybe other people feel differently. So would you support allowing crossbows in the archery season if it meant there were no longer over the counter opportunities in arizona ? If you had a choice between using primitive muzzleloaders and keeping the current number of muzzleloader tags vs 50 or 70% fewer if allowed to use modern muzzleloaders what would you choose ? Im genuinely interested. I think the "slippery slope" and "well we might as well use straight wall cases and 4x scopes then !" Responses dont hold water and are actually classic fallacies of logic. I like being able to have a tag in my pocket every year. I want my kids to be able to do that. In the future we are going to have fewer animals to hunt on less land. If I have to hunt with a recurve or Primitive muzzleloader or a spear Im willing to do that if it means I get to keep hunting.

I think that my area got wrecked by lions. I know people cope and say that a lot but when you go from seeing good bucks to nothing and finding deadheads and glassing lions. You’re gonna start thinking crazy

Look at Cooper Road+Trail AT. Light tires (39# in 265/70r17) with good traction. 65K and 3peak rated. Around $800 mounted at Discount Tire. I have 10k on mine and no issues. I tow a trailer with quads quite a bit. I also have a rooftop tent I throw on the back regularly. I run forest service roads pretty agressively. No problems for me, and will probably run a second set when these are gone.

Regarding the technology race that always seems to happen with primitive/limited success hunts- i just see it as short sighted and selfish. Game managers have a certain number of animals they think can be safely take out of a population. They sell tags based on predicted success rates. If people build modern muzzleloaders that have the same effective range as a modern rifle in short order we will have fewer and fewer tags. Then those same guys shooting their 600yd smokeless muzzleloaders bitch about never getting drawn. Id rather have rules limiting muzzleloaders to iron sights and black powder with a 20% predicted success rate and have 500 tags for a unit then allow modern muzzleloaders with a 40% success rate and have 250 available tags.

Ya I will say that, the water was crazy. I have for sure never seen as much water as we did this year. Every single tank was loaded. A couple of springs that were dry 2 years in a row were flowing again. Tons of logging going on across the state as well so hopefully they are doing it right and not going too far. Some of the cuts we ran across seemed a little excessive. We got hooked up by one crew, helped them out with a floor jack and they filled my truck with juniper and oak.

Just got back from seven days afield with my boys chasing the Grey Ghost and had the best time. The desert was super green and just beautiful ecerywhere. Saw water in places I have not seen since late 90s. It was interesting to observe different behaviors and patterns as a result of decent rain leading up to this hunt. Noticed less browsing on scrub oak and more heads down grazing. Tanks and seeps used less frequently while water is available elsewhere - yet some come in probably out of habit or convenience. Hiked into higher elevation areas but noticed general deer density and bigger bucks at lower elevation. Bugs... dang, once that fireball came up in the sky we were bombed with a constant cloud of pesty little flies / gnats. Once the sun went down, it was like a switch was thrown and they stopped, then sent in the mosquitos to finish the job. Haha. Wildflowers - everywhere! Never seen these flowers out here before in October. Took lots of scenery pics, might have missed a few ghosts passing by while caught up in the beauty of it all. I did not observe cattle munching on prickly pear pads. They seemed pretty content with the green stuff on the ground. What were your observations afield as result of the rains?
