Just like to share my 12yo son's recent success! Many months of practicing and scouting paid off on Tuesday. My son took his first archery elk and I couldn't be more proud of him and we made some memories that will last a lifetime. I love my son so much and so happy that everything came together!!!

Patigonia still producing... water temp is in the 50s now. Been flipping the reeds with good success along with some slow rolled spinnerbaits.

I will be helping out my 67 year old brother-in-law on his first ever elk hunt. He retired from UPS a couple years ago and moved from Nebraska to AZ. He is like a kid and very excited about this hunt. I had to dust off the oldy but goody Ruger M77 30-06 for him. Never had to touch the scope as it was still dialed in. I hope everyone that heads out has a great experience. Should be fun.

Nothing really exciting to post about this. My buddy glassed him up within range, I got behind his gun and got a little lucky. Mark and I had a blast and went 2/2. He shot his the morning before, I shot mine yesterday.

Pray for snow to bring them down off the mountain. Was up there last weekend and there was little to nothing in the low country yet.

And again that’s exactly what they stated. They didn’t even sugar coat it. So if people want to drop a few bucks at a chance for what would be a great tag so be it. If against it jeep your money.

I bet it will be regular price made up for by volume.

Good luck everyone. IMO, it can be great hunting or you'd swear there's hardly and elk around in 6A. We hunted for 5 of the 7 days of the bull ML hunt that ended this week (11/12-11/18). All the dues I paid with walking, walking ....and more walking with my smokepole and my longtime buddy Fred so far not paying off. It seemed someone had stirred up the few herds we did see with no good shot to take. They were at a trot to other places. Finally on the last day, yesterday, as we walked up a Jeep trail, God smiled on me. A small herd crossed the trail just 75 yards in front of me just as we were in the shade of a pine tree. The third elk was a 6X6 and I sent a Barnes 290 grain into his lungs. He never took another step but did not go down. Actually, I wasn't completely sure I hit him because he had no reaction, but soon blood started coming out of the wound in his lower chest. I had time to reload and send one more, not 6 inches from the first, and he STILL stood motionless. Tough animal! He finally dropped after a couple of minutes. I will NEVER use another bullet than the Barnes TEZ either 250 or 290 grain bullets. The performance is outstanding. The round we recovered was exactly the same as what was printed on the box the bullets came in. And more good news, We were able to drive right up to him! Quartered at the butcher he was just under 400 pounds.

Sounds like a great time and a lot of the good kind of work. Thanks for sharing the story and taking the time to answer further questions.

Man, all the OP wanted to do was share an awesome hunt with everybody. Dam jealous trolls can’t just let the family hunt without shitting all over it. What a bunch of peckerheads we have become.

My oldest daughter got her desert at the age of 12. Hope that makes you feel better. Go have another drink.

ask her if she gives a crap what a drunk on a hunting website thinks about her getting a tag. who is a real hunter? certainly not your sorry butt.

Yes you are full of shoot.

I have a different perspective than you. This is a great way to get your son/daughter on a start to the Az Big 10 or the North American Sheep Grand slam. Opportunity and time are the largest hurdles as many can't draw tags or end up drawing too late in their lives. Taking a tag from a real hunter? Would it make you feel better if this went to an older hunter who kills a Class II ram? It happens more often than you think and based on your logic, they don't care if they shoot a trophy ram. (!) Entitlement. .

Nevr put any of my 3 kids in for Sheep hunts . I think it is bullcrap, They don't care if there shooting a spike or a Trophy Ram . I am 65 and have I will res 29 points . After Your daughter kills ask her if she cares . Serious . You took a tag from a real Hunter. Tell me different and .........................................BOB!

No doubt! I ended up giving my extra plate to a guy so he didn't have to wait and I was to take the last one sent. Now I'm not sure the last one ever came and may have to buy another one again. We still never got the handles we were supposed to get and now the dude doesn't even respond to me. Priceless is right, it was an experience I'll never forget.

If you have a 100 yard zero, are you sure about being 1" HIGH at 200? That does not sound right? And what round are you shooting? A sampling of 6 shots is a little low for factory ammo to get a true ES/SD. That one round that is 50fps slower than the rest could be a fluke...but then again, the 5 that were within 20fps could have been a lucky 5 rounds that were close. I have seen, quite often, 50-120fps ES in factory ammo.
