That is a seriously 'glass half full' view point from G&F, considering it looks like the majority of the high elevation east side was torched big time!! 🙄 I'm scheduled to hike about 35 miles of the AZT that goes right through that east side, the first weekend of Oct (assuming the burned section is opened back up by then). Will be curious to get a boots on the ground view of the post-fire landscape.

They can whip there tail like a rattlesnake and scare the heck out of you. When I used to irrigate for Gilbert FFA . at night. They would get up on the berms of the Alfalfa fields. And shake that tail. I would look like Jesus walking on water. Running the other direction. God I hate snakes and anything that crawls on you. 😳

Last couple weeks, we've been having an uptick in snake encounters on the place. Only 1 wdb but lots of racers, gopher and kings, sometimes 2 or three a day.

No worries at all and you're welcome! The first massasauga I found down there was a DOR. It didn't look like a diamondback or a prairie (other potential option in that area). I collected it, thinking it was an abberent prairie rattlesnake. I got stopped later by AGFD. I showed him the live mohaves I'd collected and my collecting permit. He mentioned massasaugas being high on the poaching list. It hit me what I had. I poured through my permit to make sure I was legal. I also collected a DOR Gila monster that night, also legal since it was DOR. My graduate school professor just about lost his $h!t completely, even though it was perfectly legal. He just didn't want to deal with the stress and perceived grey area.

Bite is on at Rosey... doubled up on a A-Rig the other day... they were also smashing my sexy shad square bill. Bite dropped off after 10 am. I spent the whole day in Salamae Cove caught nice healthy fish.
