Here are a couple of photos from years ago. Good luck to all and enjoy the experience and take plenty of water.

Premium optics are all excellent. Reputations are earned. Meopta is apparently on the uptick, don't own any but would take an unbiased look at their wares if I was in the market.

Totally agree! My eyes are crap! I’ve been asked my eye doc if he court “prescribe” a scope and binoculars! 😂

When you have chit for eyes and you glass thru your prescription , the glass makes all the differences in my world. Swaro Chrystal and Zeiss crystal glass work the best and still aren't perfect. So had to go bigger. Was always taught that you look at the outside edge of the field of view and it foggy, bad. If clear as the center, good. Your decision for sure..

I had a long day yesterday, woke up at the parking lot at 2am at 5500’ to start hiking and was expecting to stay up on the mountain most of the week but I never ended up setting up camp. I picked up this guy at first light and bedded him down a long ways away. It took about 6 hours to hike up and around one of the highest peaks in the state at just under 11,000’ and get around into position above him in a series of cliffs. I probably saw 50 or more mountain goats by the end of the day. Within 5 minutes of finally settling in for a wait above him, the wind switched to going down hill, I saw his head jerk, so I drew back, he jumped up and I let it go. He ended up eventually taking the “fast way” down the cliff he was perched on all day. That was followed by a nightmarish hike to get out that had me doubting my sanity, abilities, choice of hobby pursuits, and praying hard. Some of the pics won’t upload but here are some, good luck to everyone this weekend that’s going out!

I feel sorry for the kids going to school in person and their teachers dont care enough to show up to teach them. The district should let them go and retire early of they dont want to teach. Perfect example of why public education is horrible and private / charter schools are doing so well.

Need more grazing on public lands. Keep it mowed. Ft Apache and San Carlos tribes have fires but they always seem to get control of them quickly. Plenty of game on tribal lands. Tribes graze their lands regularly, I see it as a win/win. USFS might consider have a conversation with them.

Spudrock fire in the rincons was extra smoky tonight. Hope it’s just the winds and not the fire growing.

I was about to drive from show low to globe. Any idea when they'll open the 60?
  12. 1 point
Yeah, that definitely had to leave a mark. 🙄

Plenty of blame to go around. Every time the FS tries to thin the forest ( logging. thinning, proscribe burn, anything) the tree huggers file law suite. Campers can't enjoy the forest without setting it on fire. Environmentalist faint at the thought of forest management. heck lets just blame it all on Trump and it will be all right.

If you can ban that globe chamomile, you got my vote. That Aquila Fire was a little too close to home (pic from my front yard). That black smoke is my neighbor who lost their home.

Many months ago, I was going to start a thread that would have had of lot of this sort of "history" in it, but since I often get PMs asking me about my background, etc., I was thinking about also making it a part of the thread from my early years on up the ladder. That old photo of the Jewel Box pawn shop was to be a part of it. Then, given the mood around here, I thought better of that idea. and scrapped it.

I'll post again. Just do the best you can. Id rather there be some meat spoilage, than you end up in the hospital with IVs sticking out of you.

Took my son out for a little guys time for his 13th birthday. We got a backhaul to Glen Canyon dam, and paddled back to Lee’s ferry. The water was pretty tame, but it is super cold. You could get in trouble with the wind if you weren’t careful, especially in a canoe or a boat that could capsize. The views were stunning. We caught a few fish, but I found it difficult to fish out of a canoe in such swift current. Next time I’ll bring waders and fish more from the shore. It was under a heat advisory, and the ground was so hot I couldn’t sleep. One we got on the water it was ok. Good times.

Finally uploaded a quick clip of a couple bears my dad and I came across last year. Can't wait for this year to ramp up!

I personally think that there are fewer ducks around here because of the loss of the "oasis in the desert." Even the bird watchers would benefit. Sad. 😷 Maybe the Yuma boys need more decoys.

All I can speak for is what I’ve seen. I had an elk tag four years ago and watched two herds in an area without cattle. I was feeling so good about opening day. The week before opening day, the rancher opened that pasture and put 100+ cattle. On opening day, I only saw one cow elk passing through. She was obviously not comfortable there and on a mission to go somewhere else judging her behavior. When I see pictures of elk and cattle together, I believe they are elk passing through and won’t willfully spend lots of time there. As far as the herd I was seeing, who knows where they went.

I bought a truck 10 years ago that had a strong smoke odor. I ran a small ozone generator in it each night for a few nights with the windows slightly cracked. Never smelled the smoke again.
