Just got back home yesterday from 5B where my wife filled her tag and my daughter did not. She could or should have but I screwed her by bringing out my long range rifle instead of what she was carrying throughout the hunt. She was a good sport about it and glad her mom dropped the elk. We walked alot between scouting and hunting and according to my wife's tracker we finished at 54.24 miles. Friday was the worst as we were packing the elk out until almost 11pm. Luckily by the end of the hunt my daughter was ready for more and wants a bigger bull than her mother. I want to thank @tinyturtle and @Coues&Coyotes for offering to help if I needed it . Chris was also very helpful during the hunt explaining the unit. He definitely knows the area (which is huge). I've hunted 5B twice (successfully) before but was never able to check out many parts the the u it.

OZ31p no , not even attempting to shoot at 160 yards ,are you ? if so ,that's amazing ! I am shooting 2 inch groups at 100 yards with broad heads, so I'd say that's pretty good . is there room for improvement absolutely, but I don't plan to take any shot over 100 yards. thanks

The guy Ron who used to do it in Payson spoiled me. We’d average a 75% yield of what we took in with entire carcass on elk, ribs and spine etc. My buddies cow this year, we tried a processor we hadn t used before but they had all good reviews. Less than 50% yield, and it was clean and not shot up. Very disappointing. Back to Casey’s next year . I’ll cut up my deer, but elk are too freaking big, my back blows up halfway thru.

Took 2 WT bucks in to the processor in October. Got one box of meat back for $325. The only sausage we had made was 10lb of snack sticks. 5lbs per buck. I usually do it myself in the garage but it was so hot in October I thought it would be better to just take it in. Never again

Wonder what guide offered him the brownest nose. Guess at least he didn't have to have a separate pack horse for all his insulin like Jimmy John.. did his daughter go and was there a camera man behind her a lot?

Breeze!!! I really don't have much to roast you on, because I know, you more than most have worn the soles of more than a few pairs of boots and been thrown from a few saddles in the quest for big game! unfortunately I don't know chit about those northern units for coues deer. But when in doubt don't be scared to pray for a big buck! I pray alot in my tree stands, and latley it's been working! Most know it must be divine intervention because my fat old butt ain't got much skills as Lark would say!

Some people are too stupid to see it, they aren’t trying to ban hound hunting, they are trying to ban ALL hunting. One little piece at a time until it’s all gone, we need to be smart enough to stand up against this sort of thing and speak up.

Whether you are fan or not of this style of hunting, this is one that ALL hunters and outdoorsman need to stick together on.

And here is the problem…. Just because it’s not something that you agree with or wish to participate in you automatically want to take someone else’s legal right away from them. Pathetic. Hunters are hunters worst enemies. Always looking to take away another hunters method of take or way they hunt. I don’t understand why people can’t just live and let live.
