I didn’t think there was a limit on AR’s lol you need more than 2 so you have options 😂

Sorry, Im not a serious guy… check regs or proposals.. it’s all there. Annual renewal, no weed MD to sign off, real orthopedists I believe..there will still be abuse . I need a shoulder replacement at this point, but sold my xbow, and resigned my self to gun hunts. Xbows weren’t my thing after almost 50 years of recurves and compounds. JMO

So long range rifles, $4000 binoculars and spotting scopes should be banned also. Right? Shoot a deer at 700 yards. Banned? Don't be a jealous bank fisherman. Make sure you pick up your trash on the bank please .

My boys both use women's Kuiu packs. Picked them up cheap on the used market. The smaller frames and hip belts fit them great. Both boys had packed out a handful of front elk quarters and deer and pig. They are 13 and 11 now and each understand the value of having a pack with a good frame. When they were really little they had a cheap Amazon camo pack. They loved those packs. Carried more snacks than anything else.

Well it’s probably getting good, this stable weather and warmth. I would have to imagine this weekend will be good for people with regular graphs. there’s a learning curve to it, it’s high tech. But for suspended fish you can drive around and spotlight them like deer. It should totally be banned. I remember it being discussed on here and thinking to myself no way could graphs get that good, but they did. dude, it would be so insane in lobos. Rocky point.

I don’t have a live scope… guess I’m screwed. I’ll go boating. so if trail cameras are illegal for hunting, why are live scopes ok for fishing? Asking for a friend…

Thank you all for your advice. Super pumped to have my little man out in the field with me.

I would have, is that not mature? Been a while since I've even seen that.

    Would you have shot it?
  14. 1 point
Not much. Most that had the xbow permit holders could shoot a compound. Talking to g&f counter people today when I was getting more otc stuff. They set a new record for applications again this year.

I agree with you guys, the numbers of mature bucks definitely seem to be down across the Southern part of the state. I hunted 9 days this January with my brother and we only saw a couple of bucks I would consider mature. I ended up arrowing a nice 4x4 but my brother went home with a deer tag in his pocket and a Javalina in the cooler.

My MR pop up fits my 11yo great. He is 5'4 and about 140lbs. They are great packs!

my kids have always used my wife's packs as they fit their frame perfectly. Badlands and several others make packs for female sizes that would be great.

Great pic… mystery ranch pop up is a great pack. It’s what my 16 year old has, got it for him at 14. Will work for any day trips and will haul elk with the best of them when that day comes they make different sized waist straps

I really don’t have any input on a pack for a 12 year old but that’s a cool hunting pic!

I would be willing to bet half the archery and rifle deer kills are not reported. I am in favor of a unit specific archery tag with a quota, not a draw. A draw for the specific units to aquire the tag that doesnt affect the rifle draw and points would be ok. X amount of tags whether quota is met or not. The bottlenecking of archery hunters as the units close is fning ridiculous. The desert deer need a break for sure. All of the above mentioned plus the poachers are still rampant around the farming communities and freeloaders squatting in the desert and forests. My .02

Started this thread and asked this question quite a while ago. I ended up treating it like a 7mm-08 and shot 140's and 150's out of it. The rifle shoots great with 140 Sierra SBT's and 150 Eldx's. The rifle is topped with a Burris XTR 4-20x50 and changed out the muzzle brake to a Patriot Arms Brake. Haven't shot it in quite some time and it's actually for sale in the classified's. I used H4350 for both bullets and speeds and accuracy from an inexpensive rifle is pretty impressive. I believe the loads were 46.5gr for the 140's and 46.0 for the 150's with RP brass, and Fed 210 primers.

For 120-140 grain bullets far and away the best powder is Ramshot Big Game for both velocity and accuracy IME. Safely, with 22" barrels in multiple rifles including notoriously slow Tikka barrels, 140's can get 2900-2950 at the upper node with good brass life and 120's can go 3100+....
