On the fourth day trying to get on a herd of bachelor bucks, my daughter, Hunter was able to connect on a good desert muley in south east Arizona. Her buck grossed right at 150”.

Sorry if I haven’t been on here in a minute. Been busy. Finally had a chance to help out with 2 youth hunters. I let them take control of some of the camera work. Too much good footage to not leave out. Video is 30 minutes. Enjoy

Great info. I always set up my tent, and also run a large tarp "A frame" over it to keep more rain/snow off it.

Opening day I was able to tag out by 8:00 on this deer I had been seeing on my cameras since August. He was a very heavy bodied buck. I was luck to have a Buddy watching in the glass to give me a hand down off the hill.

Last Saturday, Taylor and I went out to tune her up for deer. Getting ready for her first shot of the day, this squirrel popped up to sun himself at 741 yards.... I got a little excited as you will hear.... Nice vapor trail too.

I called Judge John Barclay for his legal opinion since he dealt with G&F cases for 20+ years.. I started to lay out the hypothetical and didn't even get past the part about glassing from the wrong unit into the right one, before he interrupted me with, "Technically, he is hunting in the wrong unit. He would be cited if a game warden shows up, and I would find him guilty." I eventually finished the whole thing with the shooting. One point he raised was possibly having to explain to the warden that the hunter hadn't shot the deer in the wrong unit, and it ran into the right unit, where it died. I told him the commissioner said it's legal. He said, "Good. He can pay the guy's fine." Now, I'm done beating this dead horse. 😉

I was in his early rifle 12AW camp. That one on the left was 12AE. After we tagged out my guide helped them get on that big boy. Had a great experience myself. As did my son. Great guides can’t say enough good things about Duwane.

Not the G2 Buck I was after, but with only 1 day left I decided my passing days where over! Average buck for this farm.

I tested an Athlon Midas. Did not track, or even resemble coming close to returning to zero. Sent it back and got a brand new replacement. Did the exact same thing. I sent it back to the supplier and told him to never, EVER order another one for sale. POS. I have an Athlon Ares BTR, and it sits atop a loaned rifle. I have only shot maybe 20 rounds under it. It is OK. The suggestion of an SWFA 3-15×42 is a great one. I have two still. Had the 5-20×50 HD for years with zero problems, and LOTS of shooting. My suggestion, look at used higher end scopes. You can find $1k scopes used for $600 all the time.

Nothing fancy ,just your trusty lever action. The only thing you packed was your deer.

A buddy and I decided to go out last Friday to look for bears. The wind made glassing tough... as I'm sure it was for a lot of deer hunters out this past weekend. As luck would have it, we glassed up a nice looking bear feeding away. We worked our way into position a couple of times in the morning, but couldn't get a clear shot. He would casually feed over a small ridge or into some thick cover and we'd re-position. I also wanted to cut the distance a bit more than usual considering the wind. I worked my way into a better position and found him feeding again right around noon. Worked a little closer and had a great rest at 223 yards. I couldn't be happier with this bear... he has battle scars and a big blocky head with character and a beautiful jet black coat.

All of the bold words are in the definition. not much ambiguity associated with shooting. 20. "Take" means pursuing, shooting, hunting, fishing, trapping, killing, capturing, snaring or netting wildlife or placing or using any net or other device or trap in a manner that may result in capturing or killing wildlife.
