It took two weeks to release the information about the location of the bodies; not being found next to their vehicle. This happened the weekend after graduation; but both of these kids were juniors. After 32 years as a high school counselor, teacher, coach and administrator this never gets any easier. I am pretty sure every year throughout my career I have had a student pass away (we had two boys die in an ATV accident this past fall). I work at their high school and it is going to be a tough start to school year.
Like most of you guys, I have come across alot of sketchy situations in the back country. I used to always sleep out of my 74 Blazer on the border and never thought much about being shot. Seems less likely to encounter a life threatening situation on Mt. Ord; but like someone said, too many people have lost their morals, values and respect for others. A few years back, right across the highway, I stumbled upon an old timer panning for gold. He had his Ruger pointed right at me when I walked up. His skin was all eaten away - assuming it was from the mercury.
