It must be official since the sticky-back tag arrived in the mail today from AZGFD. Time to wear out some boot leather and tire rubber while scouting this summer to find the cows and green up areas that attract them. The 300 WSM rifle is in the shop being threaded for a suppressor. Ordered some new Lapua brass and 180 grain Swift Sciroccos to load up. Fresh diaphragms and cow calls have already arrived. This is going to be a fun DIY hunt.

Ahead of the deer and sheep draw I think we as AZ residents owe the NR community a PSA about conditions here. That the state is pitiful. The brush is all burnt up. The tanks are all dry. The wolves have eaten all the sheep. The deer are lion poop. The border is a mess. And it’s infested with rattlesnakes. I figured with the way algorithms and social media work if enough of us post the same Info it might fill up some feeds and hep make sure nobody wastes their points in a lousy state.

Up in Heber, crazy warm.. plants are blooming early, and the birds are talking already. Had several Tom’s sounding off yesterday late, this morning I was out and hearing hens clucking, and responding gobbles. Hope they don’t mate early and end up w frozen eggs if weather goes to normal. I hope they’re still responsive for you tag holders when the season starts.

If you’re new, I’d stick to well-known brands and avoid super-cheap or sketchy boats. Yamaha and Mercury four-stroke motors are the most reliable. Check maintenance history, make sure it was stored properly, and try to run it on the water before buying. Good luck!

Anyone see the hunt recommendations? BIG cuts to most units. Unfortunately, may not be enough. Archery quotas are going to fill fast this year. It’s probably not worth buying a tag if you were hoping for a unit to be open in December / January. Only opportunity to use most those archery tags is in August. Why bother ensuring that to hunt a 120” deer in 110 degree heat when you could be in CO or UT chasing giants in 79 degrees.

Raffles in Arionza Flyer_090825 Selling raffle tickets in Arizona is illegal, unless it is done following A.R.S. § 13-3302. This guide may help you understand raffle requirements. Kent

    LOL, that's 100% a raffle
  13. 1 point
That's illegal. Unless there is a free way to enter, no purchase necessary, it's not a sweepstakes. It's a raffle or lottery. Kent

This was a couple days worth within a mile of our house and didn’t make a dent. We very rarely see javelina anymore and Muley numbers are down.

I’ve always been in favor of point restrictions too. But while we’re talking about things that’ll never happen, how about a bonus point for every 20 coyotes a hunter dumps at the doorstep of a g and f regional office and one bonus point for every lion. I helped a guy on a whitetail hunt this last year who said he wasn’t going to buy a lion tag! His explanation was they are so rare he didn’t think he could kill one. He never even saw a buck because the lions have taken out a lot of the deer! Meanwhile G and F is proud of their lion conservation efforts in our state

It’s a long story, but he’s not. I only had a little SIG P365XL on me, and that made it a little more challenging, but yeah, that was his last day alive. At that point the damage to my spot was already done, which I verified with about a dozen more trips in there over the next 4 months. It’s such a shame too, cause I was watching some studs and my dad and I drew the October tag.
