1 pointThe Aspen Lodge in Alpine AZ has been purchased by a California couple about 2 years ago. They have become the epicenter of support for leaving the feral horses that have invaded the Apache forest alone. We, as hunters recognize the destruction that the horses have caused all across the state, but this business has refused to acknowledge the damage the horses have created and have welcomed the Salt River Wild Horse Management group to their facility. They are actively supporting leaving the horses alone and letting them continue to breed and multiply. There are other businesses where we as sportsmen can spend our dollars. It is my hope that word of their ignorant support of feral horses becomes a business detriment to them. If you are planning summer trips, a lodge to spend your evenings in during hunts.......Locate another business. This has been verified and documented by a number of people so I am not stretching the truth in any way. Please spread the word! 1 pointYa, it was pretty cool. I was able 2 shoot 2 different guns that are not out yet. The Sig Cross PRS and Sig 320 10mm. I am going to have to buy that 10mm. It ran nice. It was pretty well run and I am sure will be better next year.

1 pointWell i guess i never hunted there before but definitely seemed harder than I expected. After i shot my bird and the stress was gone i drove around aNd of course found a few more.

1 pointSMH....how are you supposed to get accurate data if you only require archery hunters to mandatory report and dont require it for firearm hunts. This does not make any sense to me.

1 pointWhatever it turns out to be I am not turning my tag back in. 3A 3C Early rifle Bull with only 7 points. And at 66 years old I may never get another one. I think it will be ok, the conditions for their bodies was good up till now................................BOB!

1 pointFor anyone else considering the garage option: One other thing to consider is to make sure that your slab is not a post-tension slab if you are going to drill into it to mount your safe. This can cause a big problem if you hit one of the tensioning cables in the slab.

1 pointMy folks claim my first camp out was at Diamondrock when I was 4 months old and that would have been August of 60! My dad built a summer home in Alpine late 70's! Any time I have a spare minute I spend it somewhere in unit1/27 During the COVID lockdowns Alpine was mysteriously like gestapo mask, the cabin had visitors so I was desperate for a room. We stopped at the Aspen Lodge to try and get a room for the night! Got treated like dirtbag because I didn't have a mask on and they wanted bank for the room one night........we just said forget it and drove back to Snowflake. The development where my dad's place is has had many changes in ownership with properties and we have felt the long hand of Kalifornication within that development! It's like Joe said.....just stay in Kalifornication if you are just gonna bring it here to Az.........but I fear we are too late!!!!

1 pointI know the OP has made his decision, but for other people maybe searching in the future.... I had my safe in the garage for a few years. Definitely saw some shrinkage in the stock of a couple of my better shotguns. Didn't like that at all. I also worried about some ivory grips on a 1911 shrinking and cracking. Nothing cracked though. If you're a polymer and stainless guy, no problem. If you have some expensive sticks of wood, think again.

1 pointMy buddies dad had a safe in his garage in Chandler. It was bolted down but someone still broke in and took the whole safe.

1 pointLaunch at main ramp is good. Ramp in the water. We caught Bass and Crappie upriver from yellow cliffs. Caught Bass the next day on the north side across from Rattlesnake cove. All lures, all in 3 to 15 feet of water. Good luck!

1 pointThank you for starting this tread. As the wildlife manager/ Field Supervisor in Unit 3C for 26 yrs. I saw the end of the horse capturing that the Heber Ranger (Black Mesa) Dist was doing, and the results. It saddens, and angers me to see what these horses have done to the habitat in not only that unit, but also Unit 1. Specifically, the Kettel Holes area. that area has been decimated and all those meadows have been converted from grass land community to noxious weeds. Any business in the white mountains that supports the horses should defiantly be boycotted, especially by hunters, or anyone interested in sound forest management. There is no place on public land for even one feral horse. Besides the habitat issues, thats a lot of high-quality protein on the hoof, that could feed a lot of people!

1 pointThose crazy Californians say they have to get out of California because of what it’s become then move to another state only to do the same stupid %@#$ they were doing in CA. Why not just stay in California where no one cares what you do ? Worst thing I see in the mountain town I live in is a vehicle driving through with California tags……please just be passing through, we don’t care how it’s done in California !

1 pointYou probably won't get much of a response. Not a lot of guys have hunted that unit recently.

1 pointIf we just stopped advertising the "immense hunting opportunities" in Arizona on Youtube and everywhere else this would never have happened 😠

1 pointas a suppressor addict for over 10 years, I'd like to say welcome all to the sickness. It starts off with "Im only going to need 3 cans, one for my 22, a 30cal for everything smaller than 30, and a 45acp can for pistols." then evolves into "I hate moving them around... I need just 1 more." I am now like the infomercial "Set it and Forget it!" put a can on and leave it on, no issues with POI shift. In the time that I have bought NFA items, the time has gone from 2 months to 6 months to 12 months and back to 6 and now to throw a dart. There is hope for the eform system, but I don't see the 30 day thing happening. The one constant with the ATF, is it is a government agency and efficiency isn't a priority. As big as a pain as it can be, the juice is worth the squeeze. Saving your and your kids/hunting partners hearing is priceless. Even with ear protection hearing loss occurs and once your hearing is gone, its gone. The "I always put my ear-pro in before I shoot" line goes out the window when a huge buck or elk surprises us, be honest. Recoil management isn't as good as a brake, however it is really good and people around you don't hate you quite as much. Accuracy is improved due to recoil, harmonics and flinch management. Confidence is improved. Pro tip- On your smart phone, get a scanner app. Make a file and label NFA Stamps. Keep a PDF of your stamps with you. I have never been asked by any sort of LEO for proof of legal ownership, and I'm not 100% sure the digital copy is legal (there is some debate on it) however my digital copy of my insurance card and other digital copies have worked in the past. again welcome the club. and to those waiting because the wait time is too long, the longer you wait, the longer it will take regardless. There have been many attempts to take suppressors off of the NFA side of firearm ownership. Some are waiting for that pipe dream, I too hope it happens, however my question to you is, when have you ever seen a government relinquish control of something that they can tax and especially get a triple tax? (11% excise tax, sales tax and the $200 stamp) Shoot quietly my friends!! 45acp at 100yd target. Enfield_Innovative_Arms_integral_45acp_2_(2).mp4

1 pointWhy instead of punishing all residents can’t we make the non-resident otc hunts draws? Every hunting show on YouTube brags about how these guys from all over the country are coming here to hunt deer in the rut otc. I think that is the problem with the greater number of hunters and harvests. I don’t get to go to New Mexico, and correct me if I’m wrong but I’m almost certain I cannot go to Utah as well, and hunt deer in December and January otc. Limit the tags for non-residents and make them draws. If you’re worried about money, then raise the prices on the non-residents. Stop punishing residents to pander to non-resident hunters. I don’t want to sound like I hate other people getting to enjoy hunting in AZ, but I’m also tired of not being able to hunt desirable units in my state because of non-residents.
