Moved to Arizona in 1982 from Iowa and fell in love with this great State! I have hunted, fished and explored as much as time allowed and still didn’t put a dent in what Arizona has to offer those who enjoy the outdoors. My wife and I will be moving back to Iowa soon and while I am excited to be close to family, a huge chunk of my heart will remain here. I have conversed with some of you through this forum and met or bought/sold items with others. All great people in my book. Thanks to all for contributing to this site and everything we do as hunters and angler’s to keep Arizona such a great place to enjoy the outdoors. Jim

Buck released a special Buck of the Month 113 today. 154cm steel, rosewood handles, limited run. SWEET knife! If I didn't already have one in S30v I would get one.

Makes more sense, but....I hope I didn't mess him up. Not my intent.

2 week hunt in the rut, plenty of time to find a big bull with no scouting if you’re slightly early season elk savvy imo. No scouting and a few days to hunt maybe not, but wouldn’t rule it out

Been a stellar summer monsoon this year with a little over 11 inches at our place in So Az. We’ve been fighting mud every other day on job sites for the last 3 weeks and has been frustrating too. Sucks to give up a tag because we’ve gotten so much of what we cry for!

Man.... giving up a tag that you'll likely never draw again? That's a worse decision than picking a bad woman.

I’m no videographer but here is my 23N archery hunt. There are a ton of bulls in the unit. If you want a 375+ you’ll need some good scouting but it’s easily achievable. My only regret is shooting the first bull I had in range on day 2. Wish I would have hunted longer, but I was happy getting my bull DIY with my Dad by my side. Saw some monsters in there. I ran into A3 on day 2 of my pack out. Tried to wave them down to chat and give some help and they instead almost ran me off the road in their Ranger. I later found out 4 of their group of 5 hunters tagged out. The female who was in the Ranger with them did not.

I’m scouting the unit where I have a September ML tag, beautiful country, rugged and steep. All the elk I’m seeing are either on private or 10,500 and up. Tons of bear sign so I’ll be buying the $100 add on tag. Sharing a few pics, arrow pointed to where I’m seeing elk above tree line, few others just under. Hiking is tough, I have a cabin at around 8800 but once you hit 10K to hike things change quite a bit. i got back to the truck and a marmot was under the hood chewing on the firewall which was spooky when I popped the hood. Fortunately no wiring.

If a person goes guided do they not need to be in great shape to get to said big bulls? Jimmy Johns

Sir...Are you looking for specific areas to hunt or just trying to gain insight on the unit and the hunt.....If your not looking for areas give me a call. I have spent every year for the last 20ish yrs either on that hunt or in the south half. Thanks Dave 602-228-1719

I know people that have had that hunt or early rifle. All but one hired guides. All but one killed 350+ bulls. I would likely go DIY but that is some badass country! I hunted the late hunt in the Gordon Canyon area 25 years ago. I thought I was in good shape but found out I could’ve been in better.

Great idea, a high speed train to the lake. California is doing it, why not us. Arizona is building useless trains that shuttle homeless around, spend it on a train to the lake. It can start in AJ.

Been after "Blade" for two years. Waiting for AZGFD to get their shoot together to see if we get to go after him for three.
