While tearing down a fireplace and chimney, I found lots of old news papers from the late 30's and up to 1941. It was common to use the paper for insulation. Best article I saw was titled "Television could be the next big thing" . Of course the adds for stores and prices really interested my Children.
We had two houses near south mountain that were built between 1937 and 1943. the cement block was made on site. If you've ever been to Fat man Pass on south mountain. That was my next door neighbor. of course today we would call it morbidly obese persons pass.
Still have a lot of those papers.
