I had a long day yesterday, woke up at the parking lot at 2am at 5500’ to start hiking and was expecting to stay up on the mountain most of the week but I never ended up setting up camp. I picked up this guy at first light and bedded him down a long ways away. It took about 6 hours to hike up and around one of the highest peaks in the state at just under 11,000’ and get around into position above him in a series of cliffs. I probably saw 50 or more mountain goats by the end of the day. Within 5 minutes of finally settling in for a wait above him, the wind switched to going down hill, I saw his head jerk, so I drew back, he jumped up and I let it go. He ended up eventually taking the “fast way” down the cliff he was perched on all day. That was followed by a nightmarish hike to get out that had me doubting my sanity, abilities, choice of hobby pursuits, and praying hard. Some of the pics won’t upload but here are some, good luck to everyone this weekend that’s going out!

Those are contributing factors but forest management across the west is the true culprit.

Oh the rez is not done.... anyway you slice it he KNEW he was on the res and committing a crime- sure he may of had remorse and didn't try to cover up his actions- that does help, but Jed is a poacher and law breaker - probably wasn't the first time, but what do I know.

What’s funny about the Owens angle on this is how much poaching Blake did just to try and prove he was as good as these A3 guys he hates. All the time “screwing himself” with lies about how it was ok because they did it. Everyone involved with these cases is a self absorbed prick. They literally stole from everyone else; me, you, every resident of AZ and the tribes, just to win a stupid JR high dick measuring contest. Wish they all went to jail, including the enablers who pay their fines instead of holding them accountable.

Normally I've heard bulls and cows well before now. Went outing last weekend and nothing was making a sound. Super dry and dead fall everywhere from the wallow fire. I didn't even recognize some of my spots.

Ya, temp records being crushed daily, tree huggers burning up their environmentally friendly cars, lightning and a lack of rain have had nothing at all to do with it.

Blame your federal government. Haven’t done proper fire management for years. Go check out the wallow fire in the white mountains. Just waiting to burn again with all the fuel present.

Go get a rock chucker. That last thing you need is a progressive. Do it slowly and learn. It is hard to beat a RC and they aren't that expensive.

I dont know enough to voice an opinion on that. What do you think is being done wrong? Asking not arguing. Seemed like every time I was on the bab there were controlled burns being done all around Jacob lake. didn't seem to slow the magnum down but I dont know.

You forgot the invasive beetle killing the ponderosa pine trees.

I've got the Tikka T3X in a superlite. It has the fluted stainless barrel. It shoots 1/2 MOA (with reloads) all day long out to 500+ yards. Tikka could be argued to be the best bang for you buck.....pun intended.

Todd makes excellent rifles. It would be hard not to fulfill your tag legally. Even an Owens couldn't find an excuse to poach with this gun. Makes a regular hunt as easy as poaching?😁

The irony here is hard to overlook. For the record, I wish poaching was punished with jail time, for everyone.
