I am surprised by all the guys upset about snow. In ID we almost didn’t see any point in going out if there wasn’t a foot of snow. A couple years we got a big dump the week of thanksgiving and it turned into an old fashioned buffalo shoot. Dead elk everywhere.

This is classic. This Mathews dude is a plug and needs to kick rocks. Jason, Im assuming you are talking about Kip Fattaleh (My uncle)... He would never in a million years expect a "Shoutout" on CWT, he would just be extremely happy that you killed one heck of a buck. Congrats!

In January if you get more than a hundred yards from the road, there will be zero pressure!

Congrats desertsheep on an awesome buck! Some people need to go back to grade school and learn once again that "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Unless you were personally wronged, I don't think anyone cares what you have to say.

I preffer a late hunt with snow. . Snow is nothing. I would rather hunt in a foot of snow than 3 inches of mud after it melts. Been on hunts that were almost zero at night in a tent. Adapting to your environment is a main rule in hunting. Plus the meat stays cold.

Remington 1903A3 30-06 Sporterized. Made in 1942 and carried through Whiskey Whiskey Deuce (European Theatre). This rifle has Nazi's, deer, and elk under its belt. My latest harvest was a 19A Cow. I used 180gr Remington Core Lokt. Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14x50mm scope.

Two of us drew elk tags for October this year. I'm using a TRG-42 in .338 LM loaded with a Berger 300 gr .419 G7 BC VLD, and a buddy is using his new Savage 111 XP TH in .270 Win in which we are working up some long range loads with CEB MTH 130 gr .540 G1 BC VLDs. Good luck to all of you who drew elk tags for this year.
